8 Fuel-efficient Cars Available in the Philippines

When buying new cars, fuel efficiency is one of the top 3 aspects we consider as Filipinos in addition to function and looks. We at YugaTech completely understand since every year, EDSA seems to be getting smaller and smaller as traffic gets worse. For this article we list down 8 fuel-efficient cars available here in the Philippines with the highest kilometer-per-liter count (city/highway combined) as stated by their manufacturers.

The vehicles in this lineup are passenger cars that concentrate more on the affordable side of the spectrum. We still included a couple of hybrids since giving back good mileage is already at their core. Below are some of the cars you can find with a sweet balance of good fuel efficiency and at the same time a reasonable asking price.

  1. Actual mileage is not as stated by manufacturers. They must have measured it going downhill.

  2. How about the Suzuki Alto?

    • The Alto basically has the same mileage of 24km/l with the Celerio so we only chose one from Suzuki. That’s based on manufacturers and they are most likely to differ on actual usage.

  3. Pretty sure the alto should top.this list

  4. i would like to know what are the real world fuel consumption of these cars and not the manufacturers declarations. only actual users can contribute to this. sana yung owners nito would like to post their REAL fuel consumption.

    • Department of Energy conducted an Eco run back in 2009 where Suzuki Celerio topped the list reaching a fuel efficiency of 34km/l.

You can check it out here:

      https://www.doe.gov.ph/doe_files/pdf/05_Programs_Projects/EnergyEfficiency/Fuel%20Economy%20Run%20Results/1st%20E10%20Fuel%20Economy%20Run%202009%20results.pdf

  5. stick to gadgets… let me spell it out for you, HYUNDAI ACCENT CRDI.

    • I agree. The Accent CRDI manual should be up there, with actual consumption of near 20km/L, and a high kilometres to peso ratio dahil mas mura ang diesel.

Isuzu Crosswind should top that list for the van category for the same reason as the Accent CRDI.

Please do your research first. This is a very low quality article

    • +1 here. Based on actual testimonials from car owners, the hyundai accent hatchback crdi is the most economical car in the market today.

    • I agree.. my friend owned a Hyundai Accent HB CRDi. super tipid, 200php lang, from cavite to ortigas, balikan pa un.. pag uwi, saka pa lang mabawasan ng 1bar ung gauge.

hindi na ako nagulat, kaya ang daming Accent CRDi rolling on our streets.

  6. What are the basis for the KMs/L? Any thoughts on Toyota Wigo?

    • My wigo consumed 18k/l sa highway na un. Pag heavy traffic 6 to 8 km/l.

Salamat nang marami in advance. Looking forward for this review soon. More power to you and God bless!! ????????????

  8. “The vehicles in this lineup are passenger cars that concentrate more on the affordable side of the spectrum. ”
Yet there’s the 2.4m Lexus in the list.
Yeah I know it was said that you also included Hybrids.
But I think whatever fuel savings you make with those wont cover the extra 1.5ish million you spent buying the car.

    • Affordability has relative meaning. The Lexus maybe affordable to some people and to others, it is not.
The Toyota Prius and Lexus are in two different categories altogether. Both of them are ‘hybrids’ but the Prius is economy car, while the Lexus a luxury car model. Two different car models with different prices, and for different markets. Comparing the price of these two cars from the rest of the non hybrid group is meaningless.
If I’m to do a fair price comparison, I will compare the Lexus Hybrid to the same luxury hybrid models from other manufacturers, eg.. Honda Acura, Nissan Infinity, etc.

  9. i got suzuki swift 1.2 2014 model, at nakakakuha ako ng actual consumption of 18km/l combine. bakit hindi kasama to? theoritical of swift is 21km/l

  10. i understand that “a reasonable asking price” is a relative term but im still surprised to see on the list a car that costs more than P2M. i think that if you can afford a car costing that much, gas mileage should not be an issue. otherwise, buy something a little cheaper… like a million pesos cheaper or even more.

no offense meant, dear writer, but maybe you might want to stick to the “affordable side of the spectrum.” after all, fuel efficiency is more relevant to price-sensitive folks. those who can afford a P2.4M car hardly qualifies as price-sensitive.

nevertheless, thanks for the list. great help to me. just have to strike off the #1 on the list as among my choice. im very price-sensitive, you know. hehe

but im wondering if manufacturers’ claims holds true on the road. i guess i’ll have to do some research too.

  11. The ford fiesta with 1.6l engine but not ecoboost is only at about 7km/l. Wish it was better

  12. how about suzuki ciaz m/t
