AdSense for Feeds now live!

The Google AdSense Team announced yesterday that AdSense for Feeds is now live and rolling. Good news to those who have tons of feed readers as they can monetize that traffic too.

Google AdSense for feeds will normally follow the same basic system as AdSense for Content but there’s a huge possibility that revenue model will be based on CPM if you’re a large publisher:

Our salesforce will sell cost-per-impression (CPM) ads directly to the largest advertisers, while the rest of your inventory will be filled with contextually targeted cost-per-click (CPC) and CPM ads. This means that more of your feed items will be sold and with higher overall revenue, than with any other feed network.

If you’re running Feedbuner to process your feeds, then you’re just one step away to running AdSense on your feeds. Migration will be done manually so you have to email adsense-support-aff@google.com and provide them with your Feedburner account username and AdSense account email (they have paused this migration for now because of the volume of requests).

Take note though that for the CPM earnings to kick in, all of your subscribers will have to view the feeds. RSS to email subscribers must open and read their daily feeds in order for that to be credited to you.

To find out how many of your RSS subscribers actually read your blog via feeds, login to your Feedbuner account and look for the stats on “reach”.

  1. adsense is making sense now. actually im pretty excited with this cool new feature.

  2. I guess this is why they closed down the feedburner ad network (FAN). So, what exactly is the difference?

I found out about this the other day and got my account migrated yesterday.

Most of my subscribers are RSS to e-mail. Does it mean that the Google Ads on my feeds show up on the e-mails that get sent to my readers?

  3. I hope AdBlock Plus can also block this.

  4. @Jun – actually it can. As long as you’re Feed Reader is on a browser.

  5. That would suck if I start to see adsense ads in my feedburner email subscriptions.

  6. interesting… was wondering if the service would be available for persons who use feedburner, and now i know. thanks. :)

i agree though with christian cabuay in that ads in email subscriptions might be a turn off for those who suddenly see ads in the email they’re receiving.

  7. Ads are fine. It doesn’t hurt much seeing them on a feed reader. Besides, bloggers deserve it.

Now, i’m wondering what happens to feed scrapers and aggregators.

    That should suck I guess.

  8. I wonder how big an income this will generate. I’ll try it. Thanks for the tip, Abe.

    More power!

  9. hope it can be easily integrated with wp.

    thanks for the info!

  10. Hi,
I tried Adsense for feeds. But not sure what to do with my old feedburner feed. Should I replace my new feed add with the old one? One more problem with ads for feeds: the landing page of feedburner through Goggle’s manage feature is a malicious page. yes, whenever I try to visit this page, my system hangs out!
