4.3″ ZTE Skate Android smartphone

ZTE is also doing some big-ass Android smatphone and the looks to be the flagship handset. Found this one at the ZTE booth in CommunicAsia last Wednesday.

The ZTE Skate reminds me of the HTC Desire HD only with a plasticky construction (think Dell Streak 5) and a bit thicker than most other Android smartphones I’ve seen.

The specs aren’t that impressive either but that really depends on what’s the price point of the Skate.

ZTE Skate
4.3″ display @ 480×800 pixels
800MHz processor
512MB RAM
up to 32GB via microSD
WiFi 802.11 b/g, WiFi hotspot
HSDPA, HSUPA
Bluetooth 2.1
GPS w/ aGPS support
5MP autofocus camera with dual-LED flash
Li-Ion battery 1400mAh
Android 2.2 Froyo

The one I saw on the booth says it’s running on Froyo but GSMArena puts it at 2.3 Gingerbread (probably the update is out).

It’s nothing to be excited about since we got the likes of the Cherry Mobile Magnum HD at 16k price point. However, if ZTE can bring this down to under 15k when it reaches the Philippines, then why not?

  1. 800 Mhz is too slow. We already have dual core these days

  2. personally these are the exact phones that we need, big screens, nothing fancy. And cheap. The only essentials needed for a phone is must have large screen for reading and surfing. Camera quality, nor HD capability, nor processor speed is a rare essential. If this sells for 14k and below, then it is a good buy. Who needs a fancy 20k phone anyway?

    • and yes we do not need dual cores for small gadgets.

    • I agree with you regarding the large screen sir. A big screen is a big plus especially in word processing. Mahirap mag-edit ng docs especially on a small screen. :)

Regarding the dual core phones I agree with you., saan b useful un? Gaming? D kaya madrain agad battery nun? I think 800mhz or 1ghz is enough for everyday use, ryt?

  3. Pass.

  4. Pwede na ito if under 14K pero I’ll buy the Samsung Galaxy S than this.

  5. I’m using a zte san francisco, so far wala naman problem…and the good thing about it, pwede siya paglauran for upgrading, and it only cost me 5k…bought overseas

    • Why is that when phones reach the Philippines for marketing, it is usually double the price or even higher compared if you buy them abroad? This phone is just cheap if you buy it in other Asian and European countries but never here in the Philippines. Believe me it is MORE EXPENSIVE IN THE PHILIPPINES!

  6. essential is based on how someone uses his/her phone and his/her budget for the available services.

and others simply buy phones not based on what they need to use it for but by the looks, etc. etc.

  7. available na ba to?

  8. Froyo? wtf?? ano to 2010??

  9. Upgraded na pla sa Gingerbread, kakacheck ko lang sa booth nila sa SM, I’m not sure if there is a minor adjustment, they said it has a 1.2 Ghz Single Core Qualcomm Processor. Almost 6k nalang price nya ngayon.
