The HTC Chacha is out and exclusive with Smart for the next month or so and we just found out one little bug with the keyboard — go see if you Fn + @ works normally.
It could be a software bug or something so we tried it with a couple of HTC Chacha we could get our hands on.
The “y” key has the “@” as alternate function, so when you press Fn + Y to key in the “@” sign, the “£” comes up instead. Could have been minor stuff but the “@” sign is frequently used considering this is the un-official FB phone.
Update: We found that Fn + P turns out to be the “@” key but that leaves out the tilde (~) again.
Thank You very much to (Is) I was having the problem from one hour ago. I decided to check out goole for the trouble shooting. Thank God it worked by following your steps….

My chacha has an issue..
sometimes if I press key ‘S’ to (search a contact with letter s’) sudeently it shows my sms inbox. and pressing “G” redirects to Gmail Inbox… this issue get solves if I restart my phone.Any solution for this
Yeah same with my phone, but that bit goes on and off for me! I comprimise for s with a z but with g and b (b directs me to internet) I can’t so I don’t know what to do :/
I`ve been having the same problem for a while now, but i found a genius way to fix it! Go to settings>applications, then enter the option called `Quick Launch`, where shortcuts are shown. There, you just touch the screen on the shortcut you want to remove, hold it for a few seconds, and that`s how you clear that shortcut. :)
My HTC Chacha works fine too. no problems here.
Got my HTC Chacha last week, no problem with the @, too :) Maybe only the prototypes had that problem.
Still don’t know about this, but i would like to find it out.
Got my htc chacha yesterday from smart. Cool phone. No problem with the @ key btw.
Will try it out once I get to review the ChaCha later this week. :D
So is it a good phone? Coz im waiting for mine from smart.
It has something to do with the language and keyboard settings, maybe it was set to use EU as default keyboard.
this key-mapping problem is a minor bug which HTC could easily resolve with a software patch. Chacha users should inform HTC customer service so the proper patch comes out soon. If you can’t wait, you could search for a key-mapping third-party application on the market which hopefully solves the problem.
@gonkyouka – around 5
OT lang po sir abe.. ok lang ba mga android apps sa chacha.. i’ve heard that “some” apps don’t have a horizontal lock so instead tagilid siya sa fone.. is this true? kaC naman if ganito, weird naman tingnan.. salamat!
How many units have you tried?
I agree with abe regarding this one. Good thing I opted for Gallaxy Pro instead of this one.
Calling HTC customer service!!!
