As Google was busy announcing its intent to acquire Motorola yesterday, the handset company also announced its latest Android smartphone — the Motorola Defy+.
Just like the first handset, the Motorola Defy+ is also water resistant, scratch resistant with dust-proof design.
In fact, this handset is more like a refresh with some improvements in the processor and the OS.
Motorola Defy+
3.7″ screen @ 480×854 pixels
1GHz Cortex-A8 processor
Gorilla Glass display
2GB internal storage
up to 32GB via microSD (2GB included)
512 MB RAM
HSDPA 7.2Mbps, HSUPA 2Mbps
WiFi 802.11 b/g/n, DLNA, WiFi hotspot
5MP autofocus camera w/ LED flash
Motoblur UI with Live Widgets
FM tuner
GPS w/ aGPS support
1700mAh Li-Ion battery
Android 2.3 Gingerbread
Motorola is expected to release the Defy+ some time in October but did not indicate any suggested retail price. We saw the first Motorola Defy last week selling for only Php16,900USD 288INR 24,414EUR 274CNY 2,097 and it was already running on Android 2.3 Gingerbread so basically the only difference the Defy+ has is the +200MHz processor speed .

sylv3rblade says:
Oh balls.. I think I’ll sell my optimus black for this.

No front facing cam? So no video calling? Hard to switch on this one and since Samsung galaxy S started lowering its price.
21 says:
Sr. How about the old defy? Android 2.3 updated, right? With the newest Moto blur ??????
Whuat? says:
Can we confirm if the old Defy really has been updated to 2.3? I’ve been searching all over the internet and I’ve not seen any official 2.3 Android Released on Defy.
vinceq says:
hey the old defy is only froyo and will never be updated to gingerbread :)
grail0375 says:
If you’re talking about an OFFICIAL update, maybe, but I’m already using MIUI Gingerbread 2.3.4a on my Motorola Defy.
gilbs72 says:
How come the article says, “We saw the first Motorola Defy last week selling for only Php16,900 and it was already running on Android 2.3 Gingerbread…” Is this an error?
I wonder if DEFY+ uses an all-new 1GHz CPU or is simply an overclock of the same chip. The original DEFY has been a choice of overclockers using Milestone Overclock and SetVsel because it remains stable.
Abe Olandres says:
Here’s the photo with V2,3 in the label — http://www.yugatech.com/blog/mobile/motorola-defy-spotted-selling-for-php16900/
Arvee says:
Defy+ is basically an overclocked red lensed Defy, having the same processor, ram and graphics chip.
Yung nabago lang eh battery life and of course support for future android updates. I was hoping na kahit madagdagan Lang mg front cam and a small bump sa ram.
Jonaflormicfren says:
It is very cool to have this kind of phone.
Jacob says:
if you know how to root and flash your old defy, there’s nothing new if you will buy defy+ but just a better battery capacity..
JP says:
Just secured the three-month warranty model a while ago. Got it for 13,800 at IntoGadgets @ Marquee Mall.
jonas says:
woah, mura na yun
Budic says:
wow…great deal!
i first saw Defy about 2 or 3 weeks ago at Memoxpress Megamall and the price was Php15900. When I came back for it a week later the price went up to Php19900!
Are there units left at IntoGadgets @ Marquee Mall? Are they still selling it at Php13800? Do they accept card transactions? Any contact #s for IntoGadgets?
Thnx in advance for any info…
Straw Hat Luffy says:
Sabi nga nila maganda yang Defy na yan.
lawrence says:
the 200MHz plus in the clockspeed in CPU is really abig deal, because it will allow full flash to run on android phones. Its actually the deal for me recently, 1ghz spec :)
sonny says:
pag nag out sila ng defy na dual core yun ang bibilhin ko :D
mino says:
where the heck did you see this motorola defy running at gingerbread? Was it brand new???
Name: nio says:
im using motorola mb525, features are great…
macky says:
Defy+ is already released on some countries. Any one spotted stores selling defy+?
gudo says:
I’m thinking of getting my Defy+ from clove.uk, since it’s been out there for quite a while now. anybody have any experience buying online from said site? also, are we sure that the Defy+ can run on our networks here (globe, Smart, etc.) like the original Defy? Thanks.
mackygoof says:
@gudo, phone working here in the PH is not a problem if its open line. The problem you will be facing is the customs tax and shipping fee. unless of course you have relatives in UK that will be coming home.
gudo says:
Hi Abe, I saw that widget city now has the Motorola Defy+ in stock. Mind getting a review unit from them so you can give us an idea whether the phone is a good buy for us Defy fans? Thanks and more power!
Mackygoof says:
yeah, before i saw it sa widget, its 17k. now 17.5k.
Rumor has it that it will be available on other stores at mid dec.
gudo says:
The gals in the Motorola kiosk in Megamall Cyberzone told me they’ll have it in stock by first week of December. I decided not to wait for it though. They were holding their demo unit of the original Defy. It was damaged after they challenged a guy to throw the phone and prove its toughness. the result sort of turned me off. Hehe..
kathy025 says:
The Motorola girls are dumb-stupid. Motorola said their phone was rugged, not indestructible. What annoys me even more is when people actually expect it not to break when it’s thrown by a full grown man. Duh.
Mackygoof says:
15.5k now in widget. heard 13.5k only at malaysia.
its shockproof but for a few feet only i beleive. Maybe he threw it too high.
howard says:
saw the motorola defy+ yesterday at cyberzone SM Megamall.. its around 16k, weird that I saw a front camera on its physical unit. it looks so good and promising I need more negative comments to save me from this great expense..
jp says:
The Defy is shock RESISTANT not shcok PROOF. Of course is will be broken when thrown. It will only survive if dropped from around 3.5 feet or less.

Ano kaya ang mas maganda? Sony Xperia Go o etong Motorola Defy/Defy+?
