During this afternoon’s virtual event, Nokia introduced 3 new messaging devices, two of which are members of the new C-series of handsets.
The Nokia C6 is a 3.2-inch touchscreen phone with a full qwerty slide-out keyboard and 3G/HDSP 7.2Mbps, WiFi 802.11 b/g, Bluetooth 2.0, 5MP AF camera, and GPS running Symbian OS v9.4, Series 60 release 5. This one looks like a cross between the 5800XM and the E75.
The Nokia C3 is a full-qwerty phone with WiFi, Blueooth, 2 MP camera, FM stereo and GPS. This one is looking to be a cheaper version of the popular Nokia E63. The absence of 3G or even EDGE connectivity is intriguing though.
The Nokia E5 is another full-qwerty smartphone that could easily be an upgrade to the E72 model. It’s got 3G/HSDPA 10.2Mbps, WiFi 802.11 b/g. Bluetooth 2.0, a 5MP fixed-focus camera, stereo FM tuner, and GPS running Symbian OS v9.3, Series 60 release 3.2.
The C-series phones will be released this 2nd quarter while the E5 will come out in the 3rd quarter. The Nokia C6 will have a suggested retail price of $299PHP 17,547INR 25,340EUR 285CNY 2,176 (Php13,500USD 230INR 19,502EUR 219CNY 1,675), the Nokia C3 will be about $122PHP 7,160INR 10,339EUR 116CNY 888 (Php5,500USD 94INR 7,945EUR 89CNY 683) and the Nokia E5 is around $245PHP 14,378INR 20,764EUR 233CNY 1,783 (Php11USD 0.19INR 16EUR 0.18CNY 1,00).

nice,…
Garnet says:
The E5 could be Nokia’s response to cheap qwerty phones like LG GW300 and that of Samsung’s.
Garnet says:
Ooops.. I meant C3. :)
CarloBlogg Online 3.0 says:
tlga? C3 will be cheaper than the E63? if that’s the case, tingin ko maraming bibili nito sa market; personally, mukang ok to, alhough the lack of 3G is really intriguing, parang kulang. :D But if there’s wi-fi naman, ok na lng din, free pa (if you’re in a free wi-fi zone, of course :D)
Pipo says:
C6 is nicey. C3 looks elegant. ^_^
RaGe Einzeln says:
is C3 for real? i’ll really grab one if that’s the price..provided that the firmware is very stable..
MobilePinas says:
last year more on touchscreen phones, this year puro querty phone ang lumalabas. pero i like the nokia C3 its cute.
Lance says:
Nothing new here :( what’s happening Nokia? To me its as if they just tweaked the color and put some different notations there just to expand their portfolio.
The Teknisyan says:
new sets of gadgets!
razorous says:
What does the fixed-focus do? Is it better than auto focus in a way?
Karl Mac says:
E5 = Palm Centro
sylv3rblade says:
Wow. P5,500 for the C3? I’m impressed.
mcv says:
The C3 is really cheap because it’s just a Series 40 phone. (i.e. non-smartphone, as opposed to the E63/71/72/5 which are all running Symbian)
Quite unfortunate that the C6 is still running Symbian S60v5 (Symbian^1) instead of the newly introduced Symbian^3, which promises to be more stable and touch-friendly.
I think Nokia’s strategy is to feed us with all these QWERTY solutions until they can finally release a bunch of touch screen phones running Symbian^3.
Pedro says:
yeah… it seems cellphones with alot of features (wifi,3g, etc) are getting cheaper… yeah for poor me…
Jon says:
Wow. If the SRP you gave sir Abe is accurate, that’s very cheap! I’m glad to see smartphones getting cheaper and very affordable lately. Several years ago, 15k would get you a “dumbphone” since smartphones cost an arm and leg that only the very rich could afford.
The C6 is almost tempting. I’m a sucker for qwerty phones. If only it weren’t running Symbian, I’d consider buying one.
simplynice93 says:
C3 look great and nicely priced. But the qwerty keypad looks small for my big fingers.
Andre Marcelo-Tanner says:
i wonder if flooding the market with phones really works? are they just trying to have more phones out there than anyone else?
Jam says:
I am planning to buy a Samsung Jet but I think i’ll postpone it for now. I’ll just wait for the Nokia C6 to come out. It has great features I guess.
rjca says:
The C3 seems like it would be a very good second phone! If the SRP is 5,500 then I imagine it would be around 5,000 or 4,500 at our friendly neighbourhood cellphone stores. :)
ron says:
the c6 looks great. Its like the n97 mini only cheaper by almost half the price
markmarcelo0210 says:
wow! nice new phones from Nokia! I like the new Nokia C6!
kinny says:
It’s C3 or E5 for me. I love candy bar Qwerty phones. The fact that they are both wifi and look expensive are major pluses for me. Still have to see them up close though. How it looks ‘in person’ is usually a deal breaker.
ben says:
wow querty handsets for the masses. i like this c series!
tnt says:
i think the E5 will coexist with the E72. E5 is more on the consumer side of the market and a possible replacement for E63 rather than E72. E5 does look like a centro, isn’t it?
CBDS09 says:
Is the price tax inclusive already?
manong says:
i’ll wait for the manny villar fone by nokia… C5. they say it has double the features…
drealmarlon says:
@manong
c5 phone double features?double din price niyan..
samsung omnia lite B7300 kailan ba lalabas sa market?
RaGe Einzeln says:
i thought nokia already put symbian into open source and focus on android OS?
kung series 40 yung C3…i’ll pass
Carlfinity says:
Tingin niyo may impact ba sa bilis ng wifi internet kung S40 lang ang C3?
IC DeaDPiPoL says:
C3’s S40 may not be a hindrance since this OS’ performance is faster than S60 IIRC although adding apps & multitasking may be a problem.

does the c3 comes in a blue color? i saw a picture of it having the back panel in blue color. That color is what really attracts me to it. thanks!
etonaetona says:
totoo ba ung price? baka kasi tumaas eh.
Kinny says:
I’m thinking the C3 will be good for a SUN phone while the E5 would be great for my Smart. My main Globe sim will still stay with the E72. Or might just cave one day and get myself a blackberry! Gah!!!
IC DeaDPiPoL says:
@yuga Is that press kit the local one? Expecting it like the 1st release of Asus eee (est price was 13k but retailed around 18k~20k)
Abe Olandres says:
@IC DeaDPiPoL – it’s from global PR. Local PR only forwarded the invite for the virtual event.
Cool says:
I can’t wait for C3 to be sold here. My Samsung Star isn’t really useful, so.. Hoorah for the C3!!
Kenneth says:
This new line of mobile phone released by Nokia seems great! Hopefully, this would be available at a latter time since I’m still saving up money. :-D
jeffreyj says:
@yuga: what do you think will be the price of the nokia c3? will it really cost 5,500 pesos? or more? pls. reply asap..Thanks!
ros says:
maganda ung nokia c3 kumpara sa mga katumbas nito sa LG at Samsung…bawi ang nokia dito kasi sulit ang phone na ito sa presyo nito kesa sa mga katumbas niya na qwerty phones sa ibang brands.
Good job nokia!
rhylai says:

Mark says:
Can C3 play music while using built-in browser or opera with Wi-fi turned on? I mean, some s40 can do that, I’m just not sure with C3 though. I wanted this phone than the old e63, although OS wise, I’d go with e63 ;)

I just bought my C3 last week for P5990 and I really like it..
ken says:
@ LtGara Where did you bought your C3? it seems you’ve got it for a cheaper price.
tootzkie says:
i bought my c3 two months ago for 5900 dito sa cotabato. the only thing i don’t like about it is, the communities doesn’t work as expected. but otherwise it is a great fone. kahit hindi sya 3g at gprs lang, ang na observe ko is, mabilis pa rin internet ko kahit nasa bundok ako (doon kasi ako nagtuturo)as long as may signal ang smart kaya panay update ko status ko FB na ipinagtataka ng mga kaguro ko sa ibaba hehehe. mabilis mag load, around 5 secs at mas mabilis pa sa bayan kasi 3g ang signal doon. my conclusion: kahit gprs lang sya, basta malakas ang signal at mas lalo na 3g, hindi na gaanong kailangan na hsdpa o 3g fone mo. tama ba ako kuya Abe?
Alex says:
Is the phone’s priced lowered in the Philippines? kasi may ads na nagsasabi na imbis 7 thousand naging 5 thousand nalang? at tsaka by none-multi tasking does it mean i cannot play music while texting?Greatly appreciated if someone would reply

JV says:
I wish for a nokia c3 because that was so nice… hope my dad buy it for me…
by the way what the current price of c3 here in bulacan??
reply please,….
Ceska says:
This phone is perfect for the price. The phone has all the features on the E71 and E72 with a few new features preinstalled due to having a recent build. The ear piece volume and speakerphone needs to be adjusted upwards. The speakerphone volume is really too low. Nokia must have purposely lowered the volume 2 allow the device to consume less energy. The case or housing for the Nokia E5-00 is not well constructed as the E72 with the metal crome outlining the exterior.
Where this device pays for itself is with the navagation. Its free for the life of the hand set.
For an unlocked price this device wins my heart.
