Sony-Ericsson Philippines today launched the Xperia X8 — its most affordable Android handset in the Xperia line by far with a suggested retail price of Php11,600.
The Xperia X8 looks like the smaller sibling of the flagship Xperia X10 of Sony-Ericsson.
Sony-Ericsson Xperia X8 specs:
Qualcomm MSM7227 600MHz processor
128MB internal storage
168MB RAM
up to 16GB via microSD card
WiFi 802.11 b/g
3G/HSDPA
Bluetooth 2.1
3.15MP w/ VGA recording @ 30fps
FM Radio tuner
GPS w/ aGPS support
Li-Po 1200mAh battery
Android 1.6 Donut
The body is a bit more plasticky compared to the X10 with a brushed-color at the back panel. Like the other handsets in the Xperia line, the display used is just regular TFT LCD which isn’t the most impressive of the lot.
We’ve discussed with Sony Ericsson reps the situation regarding the apparent delay in rolling out newer versions of Android OS on their handsets. They promised it will be out around November but for the meantime, it’s just v1.6 for now.
You should start seeing these units in stores very soon.

zerocool says:
just bough one of these and i think its an excellent phone and very reasonably priced…
Not really after a unit with so many stuffs, its still just a phone after all. I like the design, sleek enough but no too serious. Unlike the nokia units which I think has gotten to curvy and corny.
kinabog says:
Yung packaging ba d2 sa pinas include 4 diff battery covers? TIA
Ramon says:
Is there a difference ba between xperia 8 and x8? coz i noticed that the x8 is up to 16gb only while xperia 8 is up to 32gb..anyway i prefer to get this sometime next week or after xmas any of these 2 but i prefer the xperia
justin says:
I’d still go with Symbian
mr.bogus says:
sa presyo naman malalaman mo na…..
basic common sense lang pag mura kulang o panget features
pag mahal complete and latest!!!!
Rem says:
IMO, LOW version of Android doesn’t mean it’s bad. Kaya nga sila matagal mag update because they have their own customized UI. :) Punta kayo sa GSMArena.com. Maganda yung pagkareview nila.
HiFi says:
I think the unit on display at X-site is a dummy unit.

san pa po sa malls sa manila ito available?
maliban sa X-site sa mega. salamat po sa makakasagit.
Jay-P says:
The thing that made the phone cheap is its graphic quality and the material making of the phone itself. But I think the X10 mini is way better than this for an entry level android phone.
HiFi says:
Wala pa sa mga stores, puro dummy units lang ang naka display.
I wonder when it will be available.
leemar says:
compared to nokia s60 touch phone eto na ang mas dapat bilhin kasi android 1.6 is still better than symbian kahit na symbian 3 pa, and soon by next month this will be upgraded to andoid 2.1 na rin.
leemar says:
nice little cute phone…
leemar says:
probably will buy this by december as my 2nd phone, currently using nokia e63(for smart prepaid) and motorola milestone(for globe postpaid). should replace nokia e63 by december.

For about the same price range, you can get the Optimus or Spica. Epic fail for Android Donut. Naman, nasa Froyo stage na nga then maglalabas ng Donut? Least they could have done was Eclair diba?
Guy says:
Not quite impressive but fair enough for the price.
berkano says:
Attractive indeed. My only problem with this one is the Android Version (1.6) even when it was released several months after their flagship model. Plus Sony-Ericsson reps in other territories are non-committal as to when it can be upgraded to the current version, making me doubt it the November will push though. Perhaps when 2.2 is already the norm they’ll start considering converting it 2.1. At least Samsung was able to upgrade Galaxy Spica.
JKisaragi says:
I’m guessing by the time they release their 2.1 update, other manufacturers would have moved on to 2.2 already. Hmmm…
Wakocoke says:
