The demo units we tried out last night were running Android 2.2 Froyo. Suggested retail price of the Dell Streak 5 is Php27,000USD 460INR 39,004EUR 438CNY 3,351.
Announced early last year, the Dell Streak has been selling in the grey market for as high as Php35,000USD 596INR 50,561EUR 568CNY 4,344 for several months now. I wonder why it took them so long to bring it to the Philippines. I say better late than never.

Well, i want this like a million years ago(translate to few months) but now that there’s a landslide of tablets with better specs and lower price, I’ll pass on this
ron says:
apparently it was launched last april 7 but units will be AVAILABLE two weeks after..you can add another thousand year ( translate to 2 weeks)..
John says:
This device is so expensive than other great tablets on the market
arj says:
why only now when i bought ipad2? pfff….
Kevin says:
iPad 2’s better in terms of pricing and feature set. 5″ is just too small for tablets.
hd says:
you can buy a time machine so that you can turn back time and buy a dell streak 5 instead of ipad 2. just a suggestion
al says:
So last year, i wonder if their going to launch the dell venue here. Still happy with my galaxy s and looking forward for optimus2x
benchmark says:
I still prefer Samsung Tab…may phone na, may tablet pa…pede pang pang text hehehehe
iedu says:
Well, Just enjoy your sluggish device though.. =D
Owen says:
FYI, Dell Streak 5 is a phone too. It can make calls and text messages just like Galaxy Tab.

Messie says:
The saying “better late than never” is so passe now when it comes to technology. “Better never if late” is more like it.
Best example ito, at 27K, this is way more expensive than current and upcoming tabs. I don’t even know any significant reason why anyone should buy this.
Benchmark says:
Probably some die hard fans of DELL…if there such a thing…perhaps. :-)
mayaman says:
walang bibili nito.
5″ screen, alanganin.
price, (super) mahal!
hw specs, not that good.
os, outdated for tablets
avchix says:
well, this could translate to zero sales as galaxy tab wifi only bgn @16k with 1 year warranty from samsung verified at greenhills as of yesterday w/c I even did not buy in anticipation of Ipad2 availabilty in the Philippines
iedu says:
Yeah Right, iPad2 is worth waiting for!
telemachus says:
Nothing special. Poor timing. It only shows how detached Dell is from the Philippine market.
Bernie says:
Too expensive, not affordable. still prefers apple. http://mconquers.blogspot.com
Iyan Sommerset says:
Isn’t this officially a smartphone and not a tablet?
Joel says:
Too expensive for too small a screen and too backward an OS!!! DO NOT BUY!!!
Leeks says:
Yep, it’s a “tablet-phone”. That’s why you can’t just compare it to other tablets. It also explains the higher price.
Benchmark says:
Really? This is a tablet phone like Samsung Tab? But then again, it’s too expensive. Well I hope they could compete by lowering their price.
wreek888 says:
Another DOA if the price is 12k i might reconsider buying it. Galaxy tab is a good buy instead of this overprice gadget.
Edwin C says:
Masyado namang maliit to para maging tablet. Magulang lang to ng PSP sa laki, ah. Sige, no thanks na lang. hanap lang ko iba.
Nick says:
A lit too late?
Rommel A. says:
Too expensive than the Ipad and Samsung Galaxy Tab. Sorry Dell time is up!
radioactive_balut says:
*checks calendar*
This isn’t a joke right?
So last year and @ a very preposterous price point. Good luck Dell.
milanaorly says:
buy cherrymobile nalang 2.2 din. haha
iedu says:
Cherrymobile? what is this… something you can eat at lunch? hahaha Rubbish gadgets
Patutz says:
Poor Specs?? specs for early 2010 smart phones hahaha
Jojo says:
Just saw a Dell Streak 7 (well the box that is) in Infomaxx Market Market. Never bothered to ask the price as the store has a tendency to mark up 100%.
Abe can you feature more e-book reader reviews. I saw a couple in the shop besides Infomaxx.
Nature Aquarium says:
This gadget doesn’t look to impressive for me. I would rather have a net book than this one. It’s a lot cheaper and it’s more flexible to use than this one. And the price is too impractical.
Just an opinion though.
Air21 says:
LOL. i would rather buy the Samsung Galaxy Tab.
Alwin says:
it’s too late for “better late than never” :)
IT Rush says:
27K? Is there any other options?
John Ray Cabrera says:
the screen size is the catchphrase but the dealbreaker is still the amodel. so i’ll pass.
Wendal says:
Something glaringly missing from the comments here is the fact that the 3G still sucks here. I love my iPad and iPhone 4, but it’s usually easier to just find a wifi connection than pray that the 3G service will pull down the information you need before you throw your device across the room in frustration. I’m gonna stick to wifi tablets from now on until one of the providers steps up with some decent 3G somewhere besides Makati.
al says:
@wendal. I think it depends on your location and your provider, mine is fast. globe on a galaxy s tethering to my laptop
iedu says:
Nokia Sale?…. No thanks… its just a waste of money
Jonaflormicfren says:
Nice product from Dell. http://learner-spot.blogspot.com/
Name: says:
i bought this product december last year. came from my friend sa US. the reason why i bought it was because of its screen size. iphone is too small for me and galaxy tab is too big for a phone.– so far i have no complains.
duds says:
Dell Streak 5 has a GORILLA GLASS display which means scratch free even if you use any pointed materials, even knife, it won’t get scratch…
Christopher Custodio says:
I bought my Dell Steak 5 last May 27, 2011. After a week I found black dots that are spreading on the side of the screen. I returned it to Asianic Parksquare. Their findings was LCD Problem – No sign of physical damage and scratches. I did not even drop it. The scratch free GORILLA GLASS still has a factory screen protector when I returned them for service.
Today, June 25, 2011, I received a text message that my warranty was void due to crack LCD.. Oh my God! I waited for 3 weeks and I should pay for the service. I only bought a Dell Steak because it has a clone look of my Dell Inspiron Laptop, a twin or a smaller version of my Laptop.. If only I know that Dell Steak 5 quality and durability is not good, I should have buy an iPhone 4.. P27,000.00 + the additional services for my Dell Steak 5, It will cost a lot, might be higher than iPhone 4.. They (Asianic)will contact me again for the additional cost for the service.. Disappointed, but what can I do, I chose to buy Dell Steak 5 instead of iPhone 4.
Guys, everyone, do not believe on those falls advertisements that say this and that.. I rely on the brand-name of DELL, but now I learned my lessons.. Not every products has the same qualities and not all expensive brands/products has a good quality.. Now it scares me to see DELL on the mall displays..
Peace out..
Gary says:
Change to a better brand. Dell is not really a reliable brand specially when it comes to mobile device. Try to shift to Apple… IPod, IPad, IPhone and Macbook Pro. These wont disappoint you.
