Coming out from Singapore is the mobile device manufacturer Fusion Garage (this is actually the same company TechCrunch partnered for the tablet project back in 2009). This time though, they’ve come up with their very own Grid 10 tablet which was announced yesterday.
What’s interesting is that Fusion Garage did not just jump into the Android bandwagon but actually created a modified version of Android on their own called Grid OS — an effort worth noting.
Grid 10 tablet specs:
10.1″ TFT LCD capacitive touchscreen @ 1366×768 pixels
NVidia Tegra 2 processor @ 1.2GHz dual-core
512MB RAM
16GB internal storage
up to 32GB via microSD
WiFi 802.11 b/g/n
Bluetooth 2.1 + EDR
microSIM card slot
Quad Band 3G (HSDPA)
1.3MP front-facing camera
GPS with aGPS support
5800mAH Li-Ion battery
Grid OS
Though the tablet does not really run on Android Honeycomb, the Grid OS basically came from an Android kernel (more like a modified Android OS) so it’s possible to install Android apps into the tablet (specifically Honeycomb apps).
The tablet will be out soon and will sell at $499 for the WiFi version and $599 for the WiFi+3G model.
it’s actually $299 wifi and $399 wifi+3g now which is their intended price
Nice stuff i love android so much, it’s go green and open source off course.
