We were looking for a decent Android Gingerbread smartphone to feature at YugaDeals and was glad Cherry Mobile offered the Magnum HD at a good price point.
Current street price is somewhere in the vicinity of Php14k. It’s Php11,499 at YugaDeals, just for this week.
You get a 1GHz Qualcomm SnapDragon processor, 4.1-inch screen, HD video recording and Gingerbread for the price of a midrange Android phone.
The only other phone that’s close to this specs (minus the screen size) and price is the SE Xperia Mini Pro.

Wow I am speechless. Beautiful butfaiuel work, Will. Never seen anything like it. One comment, just about the pacing of the text, which one can’t read with pausing the film that may be your intention but if not, worth timing a reading with a couple of people who haven’t seen it before (not read out loud, just reading it to themselves) and I think some of the images could hold a moment or two longer. Look forward to the final draft.
is this phone compatible of Skype Video Calling?
Sir Yuga a Big Question about this Deal
1. Does Cherry Mobile Already Updated the Phone or are we doing it Manually. < This is best for other people who does not understand Android yet better if this is already Updated already show this to other people that wanna upgrade there phone but only have limited budget.
2. I read some Pinoy Review that they added a Bluetooth Headset and a Micro SD Card just wanna verify if this Deal has this Items.
3. My Friend ask me can we pick up the Cherry Mobile Near Pampanga or the only way for pick ups are in Manila this is kinda the most critical part :D.
Thanks in Advance already got my cash ready just going to need verification :D.
4. check if the unit you will be buying is still snappy with a screen protector tested several units at sm north edsa and all the screens are not laggy when using a screen protector XD
@richard, its capacitive.
tagal ko na inaabangan itong magmura hehe. panalo to sa ganyang price
Is this capacitive or resistive screen?
Thanks Pete! I’ve had similar comtenms regarding text and image screen time from others. I’m wary of the length of the whole piece we weren’t given a maximum length but minimum was three minutes and I’m twice that already! I don’t want to butcher it with any more cuts. It could have easily ended up at ten minutes as it stands. Having never attempted something similar before I didn’t plan effectively for the length of time each still image would require. I guess the text has to be made a little longer though- it’s completely sharp on the non-web version but it’s no good if it needs pausing! Glad you liked it!
@wthusername, as mentioned by yuga, there already is a gingerbread update available for the Magnum from the CherryMobile webpage. I don’t think the lower spec’d androids from CM will get a GB update though.
The Magnum is not the “greatest” phone out there but I don’t think there is a Samsung/HTC/SE phone with the same feature set available at the same 11.5K yugadeals price as the magnum.
Also an FYI, if you are seriously considering buying the magnum, the best chance to buy one is now, especially with the price offered. There are people who have been looking for an available magnum unit in this thread http://tipidcp.com/viewtopic.php?tid=16059 that have not had success in finding one. If the urge to buy a magnum is not that strong, use the time while making up your mind and mag-ipon ka na lang pang dagdag for a Samsung/HTC/SE phone.
Panalo ito, mga paps!!! Sunggaban niyo na!!!
Many thanks for the replies! A few more questions though, if this or any other android phone from CM or myPhone, is in FroYo, will it get an update to Gingerbread?
@Roy, is the Magnum great? I was planning on a Samsung/SE/HTC one, but if it turns out well, I might just shift my attention to this..
Ouch! I just bought this phone for the 14999 price a month ago, cash. Even at the SRP, the phone is still worth it but the 2.5K i could have saved would have gone a long way.
@wthusername, the CM Magnum can access the android market with no issues.
Yugadeals is a group buying type of website. Buy there in a cheaper price as long as the number of buyer is attained, like ensogo or kuponan by ebay.
It’s a great mid-range phone, but i read somewhere in the wiki that this phone is not compatible (or can access) to the android market. Any ideas how? or is this fact a fiction? greetz
Oh btw, what are yugadeals? Do you sell stuffs or a specific shop? Can anyone get that? thanks again, sorry for these noobish questions. greetz
