I think it’s good that we have so many options for mobile internet plans nowadays. It used to be one-plan, one-pricing before but now there’s just too many to even memorize all.
Globe, Smart and Sun have their own versions of unlimited surfing for daily, weekly and monthly plans. They even have unlimited plans for site-specific access like Twitter, Facebook, etc. Now there’s also bucket-pricing for volume-based surfing.
Whether you’re on prepaid or postpaid, I’m sure a lot of us have a unique usage pattern to warrant a specific plan. And that’s what we want to know with this poll.
What’s your favorite mobile internet plan?
Is it UnliSurf50 or 300? Is it SuperSurf50 or SuperSurf220? Sun also has its version but I often used the Unlimited Surfing 100 which is good for 3 days (SWB100).

My backup is SmartBro Prepaid. I get really fast download speed compared to my Globe Broadband DSL even especially past 12 midnight. The P200/5 days can’t be beat. VERY SULIT FOR ME! (Considering my location in the province, Globe & Sun just don’t work around here.)

sunbroadband plan 799. globe and smart don’t work in my place.

Sun Broadband 799. Works best with my iPad 2
JC says:
i have Globe and Smart. and as far as speed is concerned i will go for Globe but if you are heavy on the download, go for Smart. their unlimited plan is truly unlimited no cap while Globe has 800MB cap/day for their unlisurf50.
Apache says:
For me SBW300 its my safe bet cause i normally surf the next when i am outside and SBW300 last for 1 months and i think per hr its like 10 pesos or less can’t find the site where i found it but i think for me that is the best plan :D. and in Pampanga Sun has a great signal in Malls and Bars.
MobileBroadbandSucks says:
These telcos have their strengths in certain locations and a lot of weakness in most locations. In general, mobile broadband service in RP is a joke, especially outside of NCR.
These unlimited promos are another joke also. Yes, you can use the internet for 24 hours if you are lucky to get a connection — and luckier if the connection speed is 2Mbps at least.
The type of connection available should be part of their commitment also. A 24-hour gprs connection is not considered broadband.
Has anyone heard from Globe/Smart or Sun publish the areas that they cover with consistent broadband service? Of course not, the NTC does not require them to do so.
To a certain extent, one might think that NTC is under the payroll of these telcos. kawawa ang consumers.
My suggestion to the other responders — state where you usually use the service that you prefer/recommend and state the speed that you get. If u can provide a link to a speedtest.net screenshot result of your service — that would be great. So everyone will know that you are not just talking bs.

I’m looking for a SUN that has surfing and texting, but I think it’s only post paid ….
Cause I unlocked my Ipad2 and I can now text, I just need a SIM that can surf as I heard SUN is the fastest across the Philippines…
Sonn says:
In my new apartment, my Globe Super Surf Plan 1799 beats the hell out of my Sun Broadband Plan 999.
At the old apartment, Sun Broadband Plan 999 is faster than both Globe and Smart
Angie says:
I’m using the SUN SBW 799 wifi router na siya, so you can bring it anywhere and unli surf ka na talaga and I can even provide enough wifi hotspots to other friends… I think this is the best deal depending sa signal ng Telco sa area niyo.
allan says:
I have a question to everyone. Can I use my PHONE sim with internet on a BROADBAND usb dongle? will it change the speed of my internet. because one time i ask the SUN representative if it is possible to do so, they said it can be done but my PHONE 3G internet would become 2G if i put it in a usb dongle. but if i use the 3G BROADBAND and place it on my cellphone it would remain in 3G. so how come phone-usb would result in a decrease in speed?? can someone please enlighten me about this?
P.S. Please use lay-man terms on explaining things to me since i’m not a graduate of computer/network-related course. Thanks!
Kenth says:
Yes, your postpaid sim will work with your USB 3G dongle at 3G speed depending on your location if not saturated (meaning hindi pa oversubscribed ang area). Just make sure your USB stick is not locked to a telco or your postpaid sim and dongle telco lock matches.
The SUN rep you talked to, does not know what he/she was talking about.
You just have to make sure though to configure your USB 3G profile correctly for your postpaid sim.
allan says:
thanks! I currently own a SUN usb dongle, so if i put my postpaid sim in it it should work as is already? or i still need to configure it to 3G or something. currently if i plug my friends SUN BROADBAND SIM in it, it works perfectly fine. i just don’t know if it is 3G or what.

Sa Unlisurf ako.. Bilis eh. 1Mbps regular speed at 2Mbps+ kapag off-peak. Consistent pa ang signal.
chinitoguy says:
Smart, Globe and Sun delivers fast internet service. But it depends on the location or where you intend to use your wireless broadband. Since we have Wi-Fi at home. I don’t use them anymore.
But when I’m out I still prefer my Smart Bro prepaid. I load up Php 50 unlimited internet for 1 day. At the same time I also load up my Globe Tattoo Broadband with Php 50 and register it on 50 for 1 day internet. That’s in case if my Smart Bro has a slow internet connection.
Specialuser says:
Sun 799 unlimited dongle- almost never goes into any lower signal than HSDPA. Accelerates to almost full 2mbps near midnight allowing fair torrent rates, and appears to have no data cap, so far.
maan alonzo says:
I love our Sun Broadband 799, so much so that we have 2! LOL. :)
it’s miles away from our previous PLDT DSL nightmare.
adam says:
I’m using sun broadband in our place alternative to globe broadband + landline bundle.
aaron says:
I use Sun 799 Unli. Malibay Pasay connection is fast on off peak hours, tipong 12AM-6AM, pag palo ng 7am-10am mabagal na. 10am-3pm, madalas napuputol yung connection. Kaya bumabawi nlang ako ng download during offpeak hours kasi kaya nyang makatapos ng 3-4 movies, its like 3G. Depende sa seeds. ^_^

I use prepaid Smartbro. I loaded P50 and pasaloaded P2 on it. I registered to UNLISURF 50 to 2200. No reply message in the inbox. I tried again to register twice. No confirmation yet. Anyway, I connected to the internet and got two-bar signal. Less than five minutes, it was disconnected. I connected again, in 3 minutes, disconnected again. Five times disconnected, my P50 pesos gone. Smartbro sucks!

deuts says:
For mobile internet, and I mean mobile internet in my phone and my phone only, the Smart’s Always On plans looks attractive, particularly the Always On 300. Just make sure you don’t tether your internet connection to your laptop, in that case just prepare a separate sim in a 3G usb dongle for that.

smart unlisurf 300 on my phone, then i use it as modem for my laptop

Globe DSL… LOL
I also bought SuperStick plan 1299. It’s fairly good when it’s good but when it’s bad, it sucks so bad. I’m getting a 150 Mbps speed from speedtest during peak hours which is painfully slow.
foreigner says:
I’m at Tuguegarao using either tattoo or SmBro. The SIMs are in a B933 (openline) with outdoor antenna on a bamboo pole. The Globe 3g feeds my Linksys WRT54G2 V1 which have 2 networked desktops. It works, and the SIM uses SUPERSURF220 because Smart is, well you know. Id try SUN if I knew of their programs, but what I see is only by the hour. Globe SIM works well enough here. Speed? I’m from USA and you have NO speed here, certainly less than 1Mbps depending on where the server is located.

globe tatoo sucks.. it always disconnected. buying tatoo is a waste of money

I don’t understand why people here talk about their usb-like internet. Aren’t we talking about mobile internet? Please tell me the best mobile internet provider with regard to its cheap unlitext service. I planned and checked Globe but when I saw its text promo rates I totally changed mind. So please help!
April Marie says:
For me, the best mobile internet is Globe network most especially the Super Surf 50 promo. It works faster in our area and i have no problem in connection. Sometimes the connection and network is depend on the place or area where it works faster.
