RedFox to offer WizLib eBook Reader

During our forum on eReaders with the CyberPress one of the speakers, who is from RedFox, presented their very own version of an eBook Reader (eReader) which they said will be released locally.

Dubbed the RedFox WizLib, these thin and light eReaders come in three sizes — a 5″ display, a 6″ display and a 9.7″ display. They are also very thin and light — starting from 10.2mm going down to just 7.7mm.

Powered by the same technology as the Amazon Kindle, the RedFox WizLib will have options for WiFi and 3G connectivity so you can use the device to download content and also surf the net. It also supports a large number of file formats and can even play mp3s.

RedFox representatives could not give an exact price but they said the smallest model could be in the Php12k range and the bigger one is around Php15k.

They will be sending me review units once everything is ready so I’ll post more of these when I get them.

  1. Yuga, does the screen also do a refresh when turning pages? Flicker effect?

  2. This is great news! Libraries which are planning to go “digital” can use this instead of importing Kindles and Nooks.

  3. @rom – yup!

  4. wait, the interface looks better than the Kindle. May icons.

  5. I saw this already not too long ago – Jerome Gotangco has one but not from RedFox. It is, if I dare say, exactly the same.

  6. Sorry to nitpick but as one of the blogs us Pinoys look up to, I think you can do a bit better on the writing, Yuga. Are these articles even checked before publishing? I count two errors already in the first sentence alone.

    I’m not one to criticize, especially on a blog I enjoy but I hope we can show those other tech blogs that we can at least match their post quality.

  7. @glenn – it’s very hard to kill the habit of “publish now, edit later”.

  8. I’ll buy this if the battery can last up to a week of exhaustive usage.

  9. @yuga is there a browser program where you can check email and surf?

  10. @jpcaparas – yes, they say it does. I will have to confirm that once I get to test it myself. The Kindle can do 3 weeks daw e.

    @hubes – try Flock.
