wifi is just some kind of LAN that is wireless. So the internet speed really depends on the type of connection on the server of that wireless LAN. Wifi will be faster if the network has a lease line or business type of connection which can be seen on corporate or commercial networks. BTW, wifi has a speed of 54 Mbps on the network(most common), although the latest protocols can support up to 100 Mbps or beyond.

Has anybody successfully used Galleria’s free Wi-Fi recently? I haven’t been able to connect for the last two times I tried to. Buti na lang na-sulit ko yung yung 1-hour AA card ko–due to a glitch in the matrix, umabot ng halos 3 hours. :D

Does anyone know how to configure a network connection for your PSP at Robinsons Pioneer?

i’m planning to buy my own laptop (dell inspiron E1405 or dell inspiron E1505,, so i’m hoping i could get a free wifi connection at starbucks here at rcbc mkt.. hope i could enjoy connections as you do guys… :-)

Total gas station rest stop along South Super Hi-way near Calamba. Good radio signal in Seattle’s Best, Via Mare, etc. Don’t know the exact loc though but might be Google-able. Also, Rossi Yogo frozen yogurt bar in Mall of Asia. Not totally free as you need to buy something before they give you the passphrase to WEP. Quiet, lots of tables and available power outlets on the walls. They have 3 free internet terminals for non-wifi users. Good place to hang-out and surf the web while enjoying the yogurt.

How about if we just log our FREE wifi “good finds” on Wifi FreeSpot (http://www.wififreespot.com/asia.html). I’ve entered a couple there already.

They seem to have a good database.

Hi! There is another Free WIFI Hotspot in Salcedo Village, Makati. Malcolm’s Place, located at 108 HV dela Costa St., Salecod Village. They really serve good food there with wagyu beef as specialty. You should try their wagyu burger, philly cheese steak and rib eye steak. The Best! They also deliver within Makati Area, 844-0000.

Free wifi at San Francisco Coffee / Old Swiss Inn area in Madrigal, Ayala Alabang. It’s near the BMW (?) showroom. Ay basta. It’s the one near the gold’s gym. Tried and tested.

Free wifi also at 4th Level of Festival Mall in Filinvest Mall, Alabang. Provider “linksys”.

I dunno where is it coming from but there’s a Nokia Store in the area. The connection is pretty fast.

Hi there, just want to ask kc mukang dami kang alma sa WIFI. I tried using wifi sa Rockwell and its asking for WEP key. I’ve researched on it klngn pla xa. From what I’ve read some access points do not ask for it. E sa Powerplant mall ngaask xa. Where do I get the WEP key? Is it something I can just ask for sa customer service? or do i need to buy a card to get a WEP key? I’m trying to access wifi thru XDA stealth phone. thnks sa lht ng mgreply!!

the WEP key serves as their security code for their wireless network, it’s a code for you to know in order to access their wireless network

some establishments do not include WEP key, some do have…

you can ask customer service for the WEP key though some might require payment for it ( i think )

sa case ng Airborne Access (wireless ISP), based on my experience in Laguna, they don’t have a WEP key so you can access their network anytime without requiring a security code though the only thing you can access is their website, so you need to buy a card for you to access other websites

most of the locations above are free especially at Robinson’s Manila..that doesn’t require a WEP key
