To celebrate the 5 years in business of Cosmic Technologies in the Philippines, the company launched a Limited Edition Cherry Mobile Cosmos One.
Cherry Mobile has done a one-day sale of the Cosmos One yesterday, August 30, for only Php6,999.
We got a review unit the other day and quickly look into the handset to see what makes it the Limited Edition handset that Cherry Mobile has labeled it to be.
For one, they priced it really low — for an octa-core device, CM is selling the Cosmos One for only Php6,999.
The hardware configuration of the Cosmos One is almost the same as their previous octa-core smartphones with minor variations.
Cherry Mobile Cosmos One specs:
5.5-inch HD IPS display with Corning Gorilla Glass 2
1.4GHz MediaTek 6592M octa-core processor
Mali-450MP GPU
1GB RAM
8GB storage
Up to 64GB via microSD
HSPA+
Dual-SIM capable (standard and micro)
WiFi 802.11 b/g/n
Bluetooth 4.0
USB OTG
14MP rear camera with BSI and LED flash
8MP front-facing camera
Miracast support
Li-Ion 2,400mAh battery
Android 4.4.2 KitKat
What’s a bit interesting is that the Cosmos One comes with what-could-be a faux leather back cover (like the Galaxy S5). However, upon closer inspection, it’s actually just some cleverly designed polycarbonate material that mimics the texture of leather.
Everything else seems pretty standard — the power button on the right side along with a dedicated camera shutter button. Volume rocker is on the left.
The 14MP rear camera at the back is flushed almost near the top corner together with the LED flash. This is perhaps the reason why the camera shutter button is also position near the top end (for left-finger shutter click).
The Cosmos One comes pre-installed with Android 4.4.2 Kitkat right out of the box and feel really smooth and responsive. There are a few customizations made by CM and the rest are mostly from Android’s Vanilla UI.
Our initial benchmarks places the Cosmos One at 11k for Quadrant and 26k for Antutu. More on this once we do the full review soon.

To yugatech, pls include the audio (loudness) score ng mga phone na ginagawan nyo ng review. Special all the local phone. Make use of samsung grand as a basis coz si grand ang may pinakalakas na ear piece volume, hands free volume at ringing volume. It will help alot para hdi madismaya ang mga readers gaya ko. After buying 2 starmobile n a 3rd one my neighbors starmobile roar. We concluded na mahina talaga ang ear piece or incoming volume ng starmobile. Comparing it to samsung galaxy grand at lenovo a’series … thanks

I got mine. Bloatware as usual but minimal. Hogs a lot of memory, must be greenified but sadly no (non-pc) rooting available yet.
camera is okay, loudspeaker is really load.
Battery lasts 1 day compared to omega hd2 that would reach 2 days at minimal use on both units
stock launcher sucks ( for me ), i could not put empty pane…i think sa kitkat ito…i just installed another launcher, buti hindi memory hog

lol… saying that “the back cover is a what could be a faux leather cover, however, upon closer inspection, its actualy a polycarbonated material that mimics the texture of leather”, para mo na rin sinabi na “these is a pig, however, upon closer inspection, this one is covered in fat and oinks a lot”… faux leather IS a material that mimics the texture of leather…

What Abe wishes to point out in this article is that the back cover of the Cosmos One is polycarbonate material that mimics leather. Faux leather, on the other hand, would utilize a wide range of materials to achieve near-leather appearance and texture. Most commonly used materials are polyvinyl chloride (PVC) and polyurethane (PU).
To make it short (and help your short-wired brain cells), Abe merely points out that Cosmos One doesn’t feature faux leather but rather a polycarbonate cover that’s moulded to mimic a leather-like feel unlike the Note 3.
Minsan kasi, intindihin ng mabuti yung article bago magpaka-troll.
