O+ 360 Unboxed, First Impressions

In a very huge smartphone market where prices are going by the cheap and competition is getting more cutthroat by the day, brands and manufacturers always find ways to be ahead of the others and serve innovations that can be considered theirs. O+ wants to do that by capitalizing on a back touch technology with their new 360 smartphone.

Well, this new smartphone does have a great packaging box; it reminds me of PC software boxes that we usually encounter back then. For its price range, I rarely see any brand put an effort to put up a box of this kind. It may not be as compact as the others, but it is well-built.

A fabric tab reveals the phone on top of the contents, wrapped in plastic. Lying underneath are three boxes that contain other phone basics. The rather odd color combination on the headset and the microUSB cord makes me think that they’re designed for a smartphone aimed at kids than a serious-looking smartphone such as this.

This phone package is quite generous, by the way. It has its own screen protector and a 4GB microSD card, things that you rarely see in a newly purchased box of a smartphone. The upper left item, two transparent circular stickers of some sort, leave me wondering how to use them.

Its five-inch display is well-lit to be used. The screen doesn’t offer any resistance to scratches, hence the screen protector freebie. The buttons are placed on both sides of the phone just like any other Android smartphone. The volume rockers are on the left side, while the power/lock button is on the right. Both are done in a chrome finish, and stand out from the rest of the whole hardware along with the speaker grill at the front and the rear camera accent. The headphone and microUSB jacks are placed on top of the device.

At the back of the device, we have the speaker at the bottom, and the 8-megapixel camera with a chrome accent that protrudes a bit from the body. You can’t place the smartphone evenly on a flat surface because of that, and I’m worried that the camera glass might suffer some scratches because of it. The polycarbonate back plate in a matte finish, available in dark blue or black, is a fingerprint magnet.

Upon opening the back portion of the device, this is where O+ laid its magic trick upon: a small square trackpad that is utilized by a connecting sensor which transmits the scroll gestures and taps from the back plate.

  1. please do have a sample photos from the rear AND FRONT camera, Thank you.

  2. Not clear what the back touch technology is all about. Is it an alternative to the touch screen in front/ Do you select items on the screen through the sensor at the back? Scroll through the display using that same sensor?

  3. thanks for the article boss, well nice feature even if it doesnt have scratch resistant glass the back touch feature makes less touch on the screen less chances it will get scratches.. although i dont know if the if the price tag is okey for the innards and the non hd screen plus is this just 3g and not hspa+ or hsdpa data connectivity? coz many brands with almost the same SoC are hspa+ capable with external sd expandable up to 64gb, i hope the quality and the aftersale of the american brand will always be better than some of their competitors to justify the price for 360’s innovation. thanks.

  4. Hi, please do check on saving the numbeer starts with +63, if you saved the phone number with +63 and that number calls you, the name will not appeared, that is the case with my o+ 360 alpha.

    • Sakit yan ng mga rebranded China phones. Same thing happened with my CM Thunder a year ago.

    • Ung sa wife ko o+ plus din, same problem din, ung o+ nya last 2years namin binili, my first purchased is the o+ fab lite, same problem, does not recognize the contacts with +63 number, I replaces it with 360 alpha, but then same issue, technical support said that they need to update the firmware to fix the problem, but need to wait for further notice, I hav3 other china phone like myphone but there is no issue with the +63 number.

  5. I bought a promo of two bundled o+ devices, a tablet and a phone last December, i was relatively new to smartphones back then, i wasnt so picky about the specs, so i bought it. One thing i noticed on the tablet was the build quality, it doesn’t feel compact, its front cover feels loose.the battery drains fast.both devices are still working yet i can say im not satisfied. The overall user experience is low. My advice, buy branded international phones. U have been warned.

  6. Also, the air shuffle technology i just useless, and all this gimmicky features o+ hypes to get buyers attention, marketing strategy to lure people, its cheap for a reason.

  7. Hi yugatech, please do check my concern with this phone. Thank you

  8. still waiting for anyone to answer

can the author post some prize for anyone who can answer?

    • after all its almost Christmas

  9. hello, good review sir. just want to share my experience with the phone, i recently bought this unit 2 weeks na. maganda namn ang performance pero hindi ako satisfied sa camera sa back (8mp) which sometimes puro blurr pics lang nakukuha. sa front cam thumbs up kasi malinaw pang selfie. on the “360 feature” nya, minsan medyo anoyying din kasi mapipindot mo tlga especially sa mga apps. good thing pag scroll mo sa fb/IG/twitter saka pag browse. sa battery wow bilis malowbat. sa games walang problema real racing, deadtrigger2 and COC.lol. so far 8/10 for me.reasonable price naman

  10. Hi. Im usibg o+ 360. Mga 3 weeks palang sakin. Hindi sya nafufully charge. Hanggang 22% lang tapos biglang mababawasan kahit nakaconnect ang charger

  11. im having a problem with this phone. mukhang kahit ung mga previous o+ na brands ganito problem. mabilis maubos ang battery from 80% may tumawag lng ng 4-5mins biglang 2% n lng. not a recommended brand

  12. hi ask ko lang kasi ung front cam nung alpha 360 ko di ko na magamit pero ung main cam okay naman. Anu kayang prob nun? Mag 4 weeks pa lng sakin yung unit.
