Sony Mobile Philippines has just announced today the Xperia V – a water resistant Android smartphone with LTE support powered by Smart.
We reported last week that Smart is taking pre-orders of the Sony Xperia V, now it is officially launched and will be available exclusively from the said telco. Like mentioned before, the Xperia V is water-resistant, dust-proof, LTE-enabled with a 13-megapixel Sony Exmor R camera, and large 4.3” screen running on the Mobile BRAVIA Engine 2. Plus, with improved power management through Battery Stamina Mode.
Sony Xperia V LTE hands-on:
At first glance, the Xperia V has an exterior look that resembles other Xperia smartphones currently available in the market but with a more edgy design. On the front is the 4.3-inch HD display, earpiece, VGA front-facing camera and ambient light sensor. On the left is the microUSB port hidden by a plastic panel and dock ports. On the right is a small volume rocker, power/ lock button and provision for a wrist strap. Right on top is the headset jack while at the bottom is the microphone. Flip it on its back and you see the 13 megapixel camera with LED flash, another microphone for video recording and speaker grill.
The overall design of the body looks like it’s made of three different pieces put together. The upper part is of glossy plastic, the middle part or surrounding body has a chrome finish, while the rear is of non-glossy plastic. When held the device feels light but plasticky. It kinda makes you doubt that it’s dust proof and water resistant. Check out our quick hands-on and Smart LTE speed test in the video below:

1.5gb cap is not true. tried and tested. that is just a piece of paper that you need to sign.
fireice2 says:
Not true? meaning you can still access the internet right? Pero how’s the speed?
Marnelle Jalandoon says:
Very interested in getting this handset just to see all the hype is about LTE. being IP57 is an added plus, although I can expect that the battery will be the second problem
Jay says:
1.5 gig of cap? heck! it’s just 2 days of my normal work consumption, and 5 days of my mobile internet use(excluding video streaming). Ano ba yan! It’s very useless to have a fast internet connection, if patikim lang pala lahat! Para kang pina-DILA sa mamahaling cie cream for a price. heck!
Ghosthunter says:
1.5GB data cap is an insult to mobile subscribers. Why should anyone get an expensive handset to access the LTE frequency then only limited to 1.5gb a month?
WTF?!?
Enya says:
Bat sabi sa Smart website, available na sa Dec.18 tapos free gang Jan.31.
