Vivo V7+ First Impressions

Vivo has just launched their newest flagship smartphone, the Vivo V7+, a device that marks their introduction to the 18:9 display and selfie-centric spheres. With a 5.99-inch FullView display and 24MP front camera, Vivo is definitely stepping up their game through the V7+. Let’s check it out.

The Vivo V7+ sports a 5.99-inch FullView display with a resolution of 1440 x 720, for a pixel density of 267ppi. The bezels aren’t absent, but the screen-to-body ratio is moderately good at 84.4%.

Above the display sits the front-facing camera, the other main highlight of this device. It has a resolution of 24MP and an aperture of f/2.0. It is accompanied by a dedicated LED flash and the call speaker.

Moving to the back, we see the fingerprint scanner, 16MP OmniVision sensor f/2.0 rear camera, dedicated LED flash, and the Vivo logo slightly above the center. Aesthetic wise, the rear is where the V7+ shines. It has a metallic, matte finish that doesn’t seem to attract fingerprints and smudges, and has a simple but premium look.

The right side of the device is home to the power and volume buttons, while on the other end, we get a card tray that has dedicated slots for two nano-SIM cards and a microSD card, a huge plus.

The bottom is busy, with a 3.5mm audio jack, microphone, speaker grille, and a micro USB port. It’s quite strange to see micro USB favored over Type-C here, as it doesn’t match with the rest of Vivo’s efforts to make a more premium device.

Other than the disturbingly missing USB Type-C port, the V7+’s overall design is very nice and holding it is quite comfortable despite its large size. The premium-feel is complemented by FunTouch OS 3.2, Vivo’s proprietary skin for Android 7.1.2 Nougat.

Under the hood, the V7+ sports a Qualcomm Snapdragon 450, 4GB of RAM, and 64GB of storage. It packs a 3,225mAh battery, an AK4376A Hi-Fi DAC for better audio playback, and even has facial recognition capabilities for unlocking the phone.

The Vivo V7+ is priced at Php 17,990. You can now pre-order the phone via Vivo stores/kiosks and authorized dealers, as well as Lazada , until September 29. It will be widely available on September 30.
