Samsung Electronics has announced their next-generation system on a chip (SoC) that will power their future smartphones and tablets — the Exynos 5 Octa.
Its not exactly 8 similar cores but actually a pair of quad core processors. The implementation basically uses four ARM Cortex-A15 cores and four Cortex-A7 cores.
Each high-power core has a companion low-power core. This is actually similar to what nVidia did with Tegra 3 (they added a 5th, low-power companion core) only this time, it’s 4 cores altogether.
This configuration was licensed from ARM’s big.LITTLE technology and was recently outlined in ARM’s Cortex A-50 series processors. This mean more powerful chips with better battery-saving features.

I was suggested this web site by my cousin. I am not sure whether this post is written by him as
nobody else know such detailed about my problem. You are wonderful!
Thanks!

Flexible screen = unbreakable screens.

Cant believe yugatech is not covering this samsung news at CES…

Flexible screen is the new tech! This is innovation! Where are the “patents troll” fanboys
sammy says:
marketing strategy ng samsung, aanohin mo ang 8core? my nagbago b s smartphone n kagaya ng destop! kaya nia b install ang software ng printer! o gumawa ng holograph!.. simple lang ang logic kumbaga my auto k n 1.6cc n nka tune up at my 3.0cc dambuhalang makina pagkatakaw kumain ng gas mataas ang maintenance. while ung 1.6cc fit s u ung demand mo for everyday lyf. pero sv ng samy multibrain daw nice design for inovation. ung A6 2core plus 3core graphics yata ang design nagagamit naman ng speed.
Zeak says:
Partly, you can blame the android OS. kasi kahit gumawa ako ng napakagandang apps kung hindi naman kaya ng OS ng phone ko na magamit ang 100% capability ng hardware nung unit, walang kwenta di ba?
Marc says:
You cant blame Android alone, software developers dapat ang sisihin mo since sila ang gumagawa ng programs, the hardware is more advance than those current crop of softwares being developed today. Eh ano naman kung mag implement ang Samsung ng octacore? Showoff? Maybe. Marketing? Maybe. Whats wrong with it? Wala, we as consumer are still the benefactor. Hindi na nila(Samsung & Andriod) kasalanan kung hindi ma-utilize ng softwares(apps in playstore) ang hardware(smartphones) nila.
DTech says:
Yep! OA na, lalo’t hnd naman nauutilize. Unlike iPhone, even with 2 core processor it’s working how it should be. I’m not an iPhone fanboy, I’m more of an Android guy, because of how its customization gets.
I just wish Android could utilize those brains well. Then, for sure, iOS/iPhone is out of their way.
Valentin says:
Likely laggy pa rin ang Andoid dito
Marc says:
another one of those “hater” kind of post against Andriod.Bakit sobrang smooth ba niyang 2nd hand iOS device mo? lol
Marc says:
Sa simpleng salita cores=brains, more cores more brains, mas mabilis mag process or magisip = faster performance. However its not always like that, core architecture plays a big role. Like sa mga desktop processor for example, yung quad core ng AMD(Bulldozer) na iba, mas mabilis parin dual core ng Intel(Sandy Bridge) pero pag ang application eh may kakayahan mag multi-thread(taking advantage of more core), common logic, mas lalamang ang quad core sa dual core.
di says:
What does these cores do anyway? As far as I know the more cores it has, the faster the performance it gets.
jorem says:
yung 4 a15 cores ang gumagana kapag kailangan ng high performance like 3d games etc. pag simple tasks naman like surfing the web, playing music etc, yung mas mahina na 4 na a7 cores naman gumagana para makatipid sa battery. not necessarily for phones sya (overkill) pero tignan natin hehe. mas appropriate sya sa tablets and arm-based laptops
