Samsung’s executive vice president for mobile business, Lee Young Hee, has confirmed that the company will launch the Galaxy S5 along with the second-gen Gear smartwatch in March or April of this year.

Galaxy S5 and 2nd-gen Gear
Lee confirmed to Bloomberg during a recent interview that company’s next flagship smartphone will be released “around March and April” along with the new Gear smartwatch. “When we release our S5 device, you can also expect a Gear successor with more advanced functions, and the bulky design will also be improved.”
Eye-scanner and new design
Not to be eclipsed with Apple’s fingerprint sensor technology on the iPhone 5S, Samsung is already “studying the possibility” of including an iris recognition technology aka, an eye-scanner, on the upcoming flagship. As for the design of the S5, Lee said that they will go back to the basics and will be mostly about the “display and the feel of the cover.”
Galaxy Note 4
Lee also hinted on the possible new feature of the Galaxy Note 3 successor, mentioning that the Note 4 may utilize a three-sided display so messages can be viewed from a different angle. According to Lee, it will be targeted at “consumers who want more professional use and tend to be willing to pay more for handsets.”
The Galaxy Note 4 is expected to be released in the second half of 2014.

It’s disappointing that Samsung didn’t improve the Camera of the Note 3, it would have been better if they improved the hardware further and implemented newer technology instead of merely beefing up existing technologies.
I feel the next step in mobile phone technology should be implementing a full fledged OS that can run full software suites but still retain the ability to use apps, similar to the recently announced Dual OS technology introduced by Intel. I find 8-inch Windows 8 tablets incredible, and I’ll be even more impressed with a 6-inch or even a 5-inch version. It’d be ideal for individuals who use their devices mainly for computational work and not multimedia design, it definitely wouldn’t be a viable option for multimedia designers though as designing and developing media in a 5-inch device would be difficult and frustrating.
I’d recommend not upgrading every time a new version of a smartphone series emerges because the enhancements won’t be worth spending a fortune, a concrete example would be the Iphone 5 and the 5s, the enhancements on the 5s were bare minimum, they hardly changed anything, only an idiot would waste a small fortune of 50k on such a meager upgrade, but still people are flocking to Apple stores and purchasing them. As an IT professional and a technology enthusiast I’m not a fan of Apple, but as an Entrepreneur I admire how Apple can rake in millions by simply slapping a white apple unto an outdated device and packaging it in gold wrapping. Only an idiot would consider apple as an innovative company but you can’t deny their prowess in business and marketing.
Oh, and, no-offense to Apple fans. I myself am a fan of Apple and Steve Jobs as they played a huge role in shaping the Computer and Animation world (we have Steve Jobs to thank for 3D technology and Pixar. I don’t hate Apple, I just feel their products receive too much acclaim even though their technology is outdated and their products are limited.
Just my two cents, I don’t intend on starting an argument :)

I’d like to omit this portion: “Only an idiot would consider apple as an innovative company but you can’t deny their prowess in business and marketing.” due to it being a bit harsh. I’m specifying that with this comment as there’s no edit comment feature.

unless of course, you have so much money to burn, then go ahead with the purchase :D
abuzalzal says:
It is wiser to upgrade every other year or so, skip the next iteration and wait for the big ”leap”, in that way you’ll be getting more out of your purchase.
