Announced last month during CES 2013, the Asus Memo Pad is the more afordable sibling of the Nexus 7. Taking the same size and form factor, this 7-inch tablet has reached local stores with a suggested retail price of Php6,995.
However, unlike the Nexus 7 that is powered by an NVidia Tegra 3 processor, the Asus Memo Pad is powered by a 1.0GHz VIA processor (VIA used to be a minor player in the CPU market, usually as a cheaper alternative to Intel and AMD).
Asus MeMO Pad ME172V specs:
7.0 inch LCD @ 1024×600 pixels, 170ppi
1.0 GHz VIA WM8950 processor
Mali-400 Graphics
1GB RAM
8GB, 16GB internal storage
WiFi 802.11 b/g/n
Li-Ion 4270mAh battery
Android Jellybean 4.1
The Asus Memo Pad also comes in a variety of colors. Local stores like Villman and shops in Gilmore are now carrying the tablet with a retail price of Php6,995.

dexter says:
pwed ba ito sa skype?
chacha says:
hmmn with the manufacturers instilling the law of obsolescene today, kahit superunbreakable ang hardware mo, after a year or two, medyo di na ito sapat para sa mga latest apps at OS update kung hardcore ka. so kailangan balance lng talaga mabili mo sa price aat specs, ung mura pero tatagal ng atleast 1 to 2 years sa minimum use.
chacha says:
hmmn this or Fusion BOLT?
Justin says:

This or Samsung Tab 2 7.0 (P3110)? P3110 is now at php9,995.00 6 or 12 mos. installment. With BT 3.0 and GPS.
Helvin says:
Go for the Tab 2 7.0 Wi-Fi, sobrang daming advantages over MeMO, dagdag 3k lang. (Processor, GPS, bluetooth, camera, etc.)
Eyemesem says:
Asus is also releasing a 10.1″ tablet (with a Tegra 3 chipset and a 2MP rear cam). hindi ko lang alam kung kelan or kung marerelease ba talaga dito sa Pinas. but the price is speculated to be somewhere around 13K to 15K when converted to peso
sugar says:
and no bluetooth too
i think mas ok pa ung archos 70 titanium
Iyan Sommerset says:
Saw one earlier tonight at PC Corner Megamall. Was really tempted, but wasn’t sure if there’s a GPS module, which is a deal-breaker for me if it doesn’t.
Aysos says:
Nope, no GPS. No NFC too. :(
James says:
RAM naman important pag entry level tablets, kahit yung dual core na cherry tablets smooth nga kasi wala pang naka-install or sync na accounts.
Pero pag open at transition ng apps mararamdaman mo na yung bagal sa loading. Good thing na 1GB RAM vs Dual core in this case.
Saka guys ASUS yan, hindi naman yan katulad ng ibang tablets na Wireless “b” ang gamit para makatipid ng parts. Kahit ito nga Wi-Fi N na eh.
Aysos says:
Agree on your sentiment about RAM. But some entry level tablets today (which also packs dual-quad core CPU) eh may 1GB RAM na like some Ainol tablets na nasa price range nitong MeMO pad.
And about sa Wi-Fi standards, b/g/n nadin mga ibang entry level tablets. Latest cherry mobile tablets are b/g pero walang b lang. And aanhin mo naman si n kung DSL speed mo eh 2MBPS lang? n would be important if you would use your tablet as a media server or for transferring files.
papa piola says:
at least 1Gb ram
Hero says:
wow… will give the a13 Allwinner tablets (those generic tablets) a run for their money… or the other way around… Tama si franz, sana dual-core na lang sana
jomer says:
sayang, hindi pa ginawang dual core >.> tapos VIA pa. >.> sayang, brand lang tlga babayaran… mas ok pa ata ainol crystal??
Ryan Din says:
Good luck how long your crystals will last. problema sa mga yan mura nga pro ang bilis naman masira.
ryan says:
I’m not sure about the capabilities of the memo pad but the ainol crystal is definitely a good bargain. I bought one and I must say that I’m satisfied. I bought it at ~P6,500 (converted since I bought it here is singapore) and may kasama na siyang screen protector, leather case, hdmi cable at 16GB SD card :).
Tabby says:
Sir, ano po yung P6,995 na price, the 8 Gb or the 16 one?
franz says:
sana dual core man lang sya hays
seraphica.se7en says:
Wow! Eto nlng siguro bibilin ko.. Haha XD
