Since the announcement of the Galaxy S7, Samsung has been stressing on the improvements of the camera sensor of the Galaxy S7. They it the 12MP shooter of the S7 is much better than the 16MP camera of the Galaxy S6.
On paper, that seems to be the case as aperture has become bigger from f1.9 to just f1.7 with faster focus time provided by the dual-pixel technology.
So we put the two to a simple test — take same photos of everything from daylight to night light. Here’s what we saw.
Table of Contents
Colors are brighter and more accurate on the Galaxy S7 compared to the Galaxy S6. There is a huge difference with orange hues while the blue hues are almost the same. Even the color of the sand here is brighter.
The sky is also smoother and a little more bluish with the Galaxy S7.
The Galaxy S7 shows more details as observed from the leaves of the trees in the photos above.
The blue skies are a little more prominent on the Galaxy S7.
The Galaxy S7 lets in more light so the images are brighter.
Low-light shots are have less noise and clearer.
The f1.7 aperture of the Galaxy S7 shows much better improvement in night shots just like the one above. Noise is signifcantly reduced and images are sharper.
We will take more sample photos and compare them but for now, based on the ones we took, the Galaxy S7 does the job better on low-light scenarios while daylight shots are almost at par with the Galaxy S6.

Nice shoot out comparison. I’ve been watching a lot of reviews on Youtube these past few days and I think I’m already sold on S7. I really dig LG G5’s modular-ish design and other cool gimmicks pero notorious padin for me ang LG pagdating sa durability, battery consumption, and even their own software. S7 is still way better for me.

The GS7’s photo of the plant looks like it is captured by DSLR, cant wait for more comparisons. Very impressive, to say the least.
