Flappy Bird will soon say goodbye?

In a quick turn of events, the ever popular Flappy Bird will soon bid farewell according to its creator, Dong Nguyen.

As what Dong Nguyen tweeted, “I am sorry ‘Flappy Bird’ users, 22 hours from now, I will take ‘Flappy Bird’ down. I cannot take this anymore.” It was posted earlier this morning at 3:02 AM.

After that tweet, he came with more tweets regarding the reason behind his decision and some short clarifications.

If he will really remove the game by 1 AM (Manila time) from the App Store and Play Store, he might have to let go of his $50,000PHP 2,934,275INR 4,237,490EUR 47,615CNY 363,915 daily ad revenue. Well, Flappy Bird is not the only game Dong Nguyen is working on. If you will check his App Store account, there are a couple of other 8-bit games under him.

Also, if this is really happening, Windows Phone users will not get to the chance to play the app on their device, contradicting earlier reports that Nguyen will push the game into that platform.

What do you guys think? Do we need to say goodbye to Flappy Bird soon? Or is it just a marketing gimmick to have more users download and play the game? Share your thoughts below.

  1. Stop the speculation on the marketing gimmick. It has nothing to do with that at all. Maybe this post is the marketing gimmick just to get page views.

  2. Napaka drama queen naman ng author na yan…who doesn’t want sucess???

kung hindi mo kayang mag-isa eh di mag hire ka ng staff!

    I say : Gimmick

    • ul0l. panipisin mo muna bzel ng bungo mo t@nga ka.

    • Saang part nya sinabi na di nya kayang mag-isa? Sabi nya “I cannot take this anymore”. #engotnanaman

    • abuzalzal aka “Bezel Boy”

      hahahaha.

  3. So peke ung nasa wp store?

  4. kung totoo man to eh posibleng dahil sa personal na isyu, kung gimmick naman to parang d naman enoygh ung reason na para mas marami ang magdownload ng game, ngaun pa nga lang andami pa ring patuloy na nagdodownload e.

  5. Well dahil harass siya ng vietnam government dahil sa tax ng malaman na 50000$ per day.

And copy paste article. Nabasa sa phonearena? The verge? Rephrased article. Images saan galing. Anyway, i am still a visitor dahil sa local tech news pero mostly nabasa ko na sa us tech sites. Thanks anyway

    • good for you,bad for us, di kmi nagbabasa ng ibang sites, yugatech lng talaga kase nakakatamad tska andito rin naman halos lahat=)

  6. It is not about the flappy bird game. It’s about the idea of it. Thanks!

  7. ewan ko ba i find this app so stupid, ang engot engot ng bird na yan maka 10 lang ata ako nakakairita what i did? i deleted it hahaha!!

    • You do realize that the “bird” you are pertaining to is actually a representation of YOU, right? “engot” and stupid bird = “engot” and stupid gamer. :)

    • paul, so your saying those millions of people who downloaded it and played and got crazy about it is also “engot” and “stupid gamer” including you as well bec. i presume! but if you havent tried and download it i will say you too belong to engots, bec. u didnt try it life is short better try everything you can and learn from it …(for my part i learned the art of playing it and its a timewasting enadeavor and i learned from it and then i deleted it) …

  8. It was just updated yesterday. So why update when you’re taking it down? Gimmick.

  9. R.I.P. Flappy Bird… Welcome back Angry Bird! :P

    • Somehow it’s becoming clear

May lawsuit threat yata ang Nintendo.

Anyways, you can easily make a modded APK out of it using Lucky Patcher

  11. Wala na. He really did it.
