Globe and Facebook partnered 6 months ago to offer Free FB on all Globe/TM subscribers a service which, according to Mark Zuckerberg, doubled the number of people who are using internet and data in the Philippines.
It is further claimed that more than 1% of Facebook users worldwide are using Free Facebook on Globe (802 million daily active users on average in March 2014).
However, since last week, Globe has been sending text messages to their subscribers that the Free Facebook service will expire in April 30. The service was initially for only 3 months and was then extended for another 3 months.
It seems like Globe has no intentions of extending it once more. Once the free FB service ends in April 30, subscribers will be charged the normal data rates.

So hindi na ipapa-implement ng Globe ang FUP na 1gb/day or 3gb/month katulad ng Smart na kahit sinasabi nila 1.5gb/day pero di naman pinapatupad? Pa free FB pa kasing nalalaman pati tuloy kami naka-unli data plan affected. Sana ibalik na sa dati! 2g ng Globe opera mini lang nagloload pag chrome na gamit mo 15mins na di pa nagbubukas kahit espn.com lang

Do you know how much money. This will cost my Filipino girlfriend?
Zobel says:
999 pesos (around $22.5) will give her a month of unlimited internet on Smart prepaid with decent speeds. Don’t believe her if she says more than that.
psikick says:
This is the reason why globe’s internet speed dropped and they had to strictly implement their FUP.. there were literally thousands of fb groups created which catered to downloads of all kinds..be it music, movies, anime, even software..they simply zipped the files, split them and uploaded them one by one to the fb group..the users could then download them for free since the files used a facebook server…tedious yes, since you had to join the split files but still, free. And pinoys LOVE free.
anon666 says:
ay dapat na mawala na ito.
Zobel says:
It was a futile experiment. As if may pera ang mga Pinoy pambili sa mga ads ng FB no?
