It’s over guys! We can tune down our paranoia on pranks now, but while the excitement and humor hasn’t completely subsided yet, take a look at the jokes & pranks on the internet that caught our attention the most.
To be honest, we were very cautious with the news popping around the internet because in some corners that we go to, we can’t help but stumble into April Fools Day pranks; some were extremely obvious, some were really convincing and some were totally eye-catching.
Asus ZenHome Appliances
We saw this one on Asus Philippines’ Facebook Page and it boasted the ZenRidge, the ZenWasher, the ZenWave & the ZenDish – which is expected to have Asus’ signature metallic spun finish and some neat features. It also commented that they might need a quad-compressor so we don’t have to wait for our food to get cold – which makes it a little more clever.
The Google Pranks
The search giant felt a little too prankster today as they released more than one prank today – and they’re all professionally made. There’s Gmail Blue, which is a massive leap for Gmail as a whole. Then there’s Google Nose, which we’ve covered already, a new service that allows you to smell some things off the internet. Another one involves YouTube; they stated that the site was a scheme all along to find the best video ever, and that they will go offline until 2023 – only then will they announce the winner. You can go watch the video here. There are many more from Google, ranging from Analytics to Maps. You might want to explore that.
Instagram for Windows Phone
“Your #2InstawithLove prayer has been aswered!” Instagram was released by Microsoft for Windows Phone… not. It was quite a cruel joke for those who were getting their hopes up for the much-longed for app. The screenshots seemed real from the bottom up and you can’t really install it as it is written down below the description – “Happy April 1st, 2013!”.
Sony Animalia
Sony claims that we leave out one member of the family often – the pet, which is why Sony is introducing a new line of products called Animalia, which aims to give your pets a brand new living experience. You can watch the video here.
There are quite more than the ones stated above; for example, Twttr. The microblogging site stated in their blog that from now on, users can no longer use vowels on their tweets. Nokia, on the other hand, announced their new touchscreen microwave – the Nokia 5AM-TH1N6 Constellation.
What about you? What were the pranks that caught your attention today, or perhaps what were the ones that you found creative? Happy April Fools Day everyone!

Jp says:
Sorry but I’m still lost, somehow… why are you guys arguing about this again?
And what’s with Bob freking?
Zuheltzer says:
Well, no idea is sacred on the internet so this isn’t exactly copying. Though it could have been better say for example, taking on the same subject, writer compiles the top 5 April Fool’s Prank that ALL Yugatech editors found funny, intriguing, creative or pure horse crap with brief commentaries from each. That’ll be entertaining to say the least.
.
.
.
.
Say what? there’s the same article on the internet that has been published in both Swedish and Japanese?
aaron ballesteros says:
Hahahahahahaha! Sony animalia ! XD
Mas maganda pa yung sa twitter eh.
$5 per tweet. XD
r41 says:
So writing about a worldwide event such as April Fools Day is considered copying from other websites. SMH, was expecting a fun comments section, but no, there had to be a douchebag to point his useless finger.
I hope Bob Freking writes more articles, simply to annoy these haters. They’ll get tired, eventually.
tdsxhhb says:
thecorrescode says:
Writing article about April Fool’s day is not copying. Getting inspired from someone’s idea is also good.
BUT COPYING IDEA FROM SOMEONE, REWORD IT AND CLAIM IT AS HIS OWN… THAT IS STEALING.
Yugatech could have atleast comeup with list of his own, and not the same EXCLUSIVE LIST from PhoneArena. This blog used to be a good one, until lately na panay report article na lang.

“What about you? What were the pranks that caught your attention today, or perhaps what were the ones that you found creative?”
for me obvious yung google nose though nakakaaliw panoorin yung mga tao dito sa office, mega-try talaga! haha
as for what caught my attention and confirmation, it’s manny pacquiao resigning from his boxing career. a day late ko na kasi nabasa kaya kala ko totoo na haha

Baklaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!

A good percentage of readers, myself included, do not really care where this came from, if this was copied or not, etc. As long as the content is amusing to go thru, then I thank the writer for bringing this here. While I visit Yugatech regularly, I don’t really go thru PA much and wouldn’t have had the chance to peruse this content. :) Many people just want to consume content and we are happy most of the time. While others have made it their life’s mission to police blogs, and they are continually stressed. Hate leads to darkness, so just chill. :)

I agree…we should be thankful na may local na nag sha-share ng info from international, and I notice to his write-ups, may mga links naman sya. And as for these compilation or ideas, kanya kanyang approach din naman yun.
Some other tech sites, have the same topic sa iba, and some also gave links to their source.
In my opinion, masyado lang din na-stereo type ang writer kesyo may kapareho sa ibang sites or anything…
Let us just be thankful na may write-ups na local na share nya ang ideas sa iba.
As for the april fools, yung sa Google ang malupit…na may video pa talaga sila…Google Nose, Google Treasure Map, etc. ayus yung ginawa din nila…
As for the collectiions the writer did, hinde ko alam yung April Fools ng Asus…hehehe ayus…kitchen talaga.
LOL says:
@thecorrescode Thehellfreking: There’s nothing wrong with what Bob Freking did here. He may have “adopted” the idea, but he did not copy what was written. Also, other tech sites have their own April Fool’s compilations, so does that mean kinopya din nila ang idea? Heck, these list-type articles have been around for years now and no one owns the patent, copyright, or trademark for them.
Also, yep, ung samples nya can be found dun sa PA article. But that’s understandable; hindi naman kasi infinite ang number ng April Fool’s jokes for a list to have no similar entries with another. And, I bet, ung sa PA article, may pagkakapareho din ng entries yan with other compilations from other sites. Why don’t you fume about that, too?
royax says:
its just funny… i always read “freking blog”
nakaka-aliw mga nagcocoment!! hahaha…
sasaliako says:
@Thehellfreking,
“You dont call yourself a techie one if puro pangongopya lang sa iba ang alam mo.”
Hmmm, Steve Jobs, Bill Gates, Mark Z.
Danny says:
Here is the link of that statement from ASUS GLOBAL not phonearena.
https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=526280967415306&set=a.186749591368447.43127.179161458793927&type=1&theater
thecorrescode says:
As if di rin namention sa phone arena yung sa ASUS…
17. Asus Zenhome appliances
”ASUS is proud to announce our new collection of ZenHome appliances, featuring our signature metallic spun finish design. Would you buy one?”
In other words, copy and reword later talaga…
Danny says:
lol ang dami daming nilabas ni Phonearena na items compared what freking showed kasi its brands that are present in the Philippines ang binigyan tugon niya. Can you read the article and you can see where he got the sources.
Not even international asus mentioned the individual NAMES of the appliances, its a modification of ASUS philippines in the 1st place.
thecorrescode says:
In short wala cyang pinagkunan sa ibang blogs. Sarili nyang compilation to. Tsk
tdsxhhb says:
Marami ding gumagawa ng ganito no at version nya lang to.. Kayo talaga.
Pati ba naman tong simpleng idea na to is kokopyahin pa. Ibang usapan na yun. You dont call yourself a techie one if puro pangongopya lang sa iba ang alam mo.
Thehellfreking says:
Malala kana freking! Sariling utak naman please.
S says:
Bobits. May ganun din slashgear, technobuffalo at iba pang sites. Sino nanggaya then?
Danny says:
so pati yung “ASUS Philippines” na source sinama ni phonearena.com? I don’t think so, stop being a hater and just make your own tech blog
Name: says:
bitter much sa pambabasted sayo ni Bob Freking, Thehellfreking? hahaha
thecorrescode says:
@Yugatech, mahiya ka naman. Isama mo ‘to sa source mo… Gesh ha…
