Wondering why Facebook can’t be accessed yesterday afternoon? Here’s your answer.
Social networking giant, Facebook, suffered an outage yesterday which started at around 4PM local time and caused a bit of a frenzy over the Internet. The good news is Facebook was back online in a jiffy. The reason for the short downtime? A software glitch.
“Late last night, we ran into an issue while updating the configuration of one of our software systems. Not long after we made the change, some people started to have trouble accessing Facebook. We quickly spotted and fixed the problem, and in less than 30 minutes Facebook was back to 100% for everyone. This doesn’t happen often, but when it does we make sure we learn from the experience so we can make Facebook that much more reliable. Nothing is more important to us than making sure Facebook is there when people need it, and we apologize to anyone who may have had trouble connecting last night.” said Facebook in an e-mailed statement.
Facebook has 1.28 billion monthly active users and 1.01 billion mobile monthly active users as of March 31, 2014. Approximately 81.2% of their daily active users are outside the U.S. and Canada.

Not the exact reason we are expecting though, “system glitch” is a pure white lie :)
They won’t tell us that it was hacked or someone did it intentionally.
Just saying.. :)
David Z says:
Maybe that depends on what one expects. If one expects Facebook to say things the former wants to hear, then that person will likely be disappointed if the latter doesn’t.
While it’s possible that Facebook might’ve been compromised, surely it’s also possible those guys told the truth re: software glitch. Or, is that idea just too hard for one to believe for whatever reason?
Just saying. ;)
