It has taken Cisco quite some time but they’ve finally launched the Flip Mino HD and Flip Ultra HD in the Philippines early this week.
Three models were released and are available in stores, two of which comes with a built-in Image Stabilizer (IS).
Flip Video prices:
Flip Ultra HD w/ IS – Php12,995USD 221INR 18,773EUR 211CNY 1,613
Flip Mino HD 4GB w/ IS – Php9,995USD 170INR 14,439EUR 162CNY 1,240
Flip Mino HD 8GB – Php10,995USD 187INR 15,883EUR 178CNY 1,364
They sent me a Flip Mino HD a couple of weeks back and asked me to take a video all day long (ala-Justin TV) to share things I do on a day to day basis. I was a bit apprehensive at first because they’ll use some of the clips during the launching, along with dozens of other celebrities and personalities in the Philippines (I didn’t think my day as a blogger is that interesting enough).
I tried the Flip Ultra earlier this year and the one I used recently is the Flip Mino.
The Flip Video is a camcorder created by Pure Digital Technologies, a company bought by Cisco Systems in March 2009 for a reported $590PHP 34,624INR 50,002EUR 562CNY 4,294 million.

sylv3rblade says:
The Ultra HD is available in 4GB and 8GB variants like the Mino right?
Mark Joiner says:
Yes you are right sylv3rblade. They come in two formats basically which are 4GB with 1Hr battery and 8GB with 2Hr battery.
You can check them out from a great site I found, and ended up purchasing one for a 13% discount. They even shipped them free to my house in the US.
The site is: UltraHDFlipCamcorder.com.
Hope this helps.

Manix says:
what’s the major advantage of getting a separate dedicated video recorder of this size, compared to having lets say–a Nokia N8 or an Android phone–that can also get decent videos?
is the vid quality as good as buying a Sony camcorder?
this is not intended as sarcasm, but i’m really interested on the value of getting one of these.
Abe Olandres says:
@Manix – battery life.
Rafael says:
please update us on promos and discount of this product.
Arvee says:
@Manix aside from what sir Abe said, Flip Mino-s captures high quality audio along with the video. iPhone 4 (yeah..), N8 and Galaxy S were the only smartphones I saw HD video samples with great audio (HTC Desire HD – great video, poor audio). And the Flip software can upload your video directly to YouTube or any available video sharing sites(great for v-logging).
As a sony camcorder? If you only want basic recording where you don’t really mess up with the settings too much, shares video on a daily basis and is an on-the-go person, this will be a great option. But if you’re looking for more advanced features like optical zoom, still capture and others, I don’t think so. :)

pangit yan
Alexei Rivera says:
What’s the difference between the Ultra and the Mino variants?
And yes, you want a dedicated camera instead of phone cameras because video recording eats up juice, mostly doesn’t create the best quality videos, and can interrupt your camera recording when calls or texts pop in.
nansorb says:
Kodak Zi8!!!! where are you!!
jun says:
mahal masyado ang flip ultra hd.. i think sa black market.. me makukuha kayo from 8-9.5k
Manuel says:
Don’t buy this thing. Kodak portable cams are lot cheaper and better than this.
fafu says:

ian says:

madpoet says:
sa mga video blogger highly recommended toh. pero for that said amount? i rather buy an iPod touch 4g. you can take hd video also tapos may iPhone features pa. multitasking is the name of the game pagdating sa mga gadgets ngayon.
lolipown says:
@madpoet
yes you can take the same video on the iPod touch 4g but no it won’t be the same quality.
Goodfriday says:
Where is this available? I need one badly.
jeia justine. says:

UltraHD Flip Camera says:
Hi Jeia Justine, I don’t know but you can always avoid the hassle of running about to buy one, and order it online from Amazon for a good deal. These items can usually be delivered worldwide from most sellers on Amazon.
Marlon Magtira says:
Abe, would you know if there’s still a tech support center of mino hd in the philippines. I have one that is not working. I want to have it repaired. thanks.
ezra de jesus says:

best home security says:
Wireless digital video security cameras senmd their video data via radio
waves to a corresponding receiver or DVR, or if IP (Internet Protocol) ready to a corresponding wireless modem or router.
These types of cameras operate like normal cameras during the day yet
at night they employ night vision technology that allows them to be able too
take very clear video clips and images though there’s minimal lighting.
This type of surveillance camera allows a person to save battery therefore you can record for a longer period of time without having to worry
about battery power.
