True Wireless Stereo earbuds are typical nowadays, and they come in various shapes and sizes and functions. It’s also a popular gear for those with active lifestyles but still want to listen to their tunes. One TWS earbuds that fit that kind of user is the Amazfit PowerBuds. Check out our initial impressions below.
Out of the box, the Amazfit PowerBuds comes in a pebble-like plastic case with a matte finish.
It’s got an LED indicator on the front and a USB-C charging port at the back.
Open the case, and you’ll find the Amazfit PowerBuds and the magnetic ear hooks. Also found here is the button for pairing.
The Amazfit PowerBuds is an in-ear type and features a sporty design. The unit we have on hand is the Dynamic Black model with a red dotted paint job on the exterior. It’s made of plastic but looks and feels premium. It’s also IP55 rated, meaning it is dust and water-resistant.
The Amazfit PowerBuds are equipped with microphones and ENC Dual-Microphone Noise Reduction to filter ambient noise during calls. It also features a Thru Mode, which increases the volume of the ambient noise, so you’re still aware of your surroundings while listening to your tunes.
What will separate the Amazfit PowerBuds from other TWS earbuds is that it has a built-in PPG heart rate sensor on the right earbud to monitor your heart rate while you’re working out. You will also get voice notifications when your heart rate exceeds the pre-set warning value.
To pair with the Amazfit PowerBuds to your mobile device, open the case and press and hold the pairing button for a few seconds until the LED indicator blinks.
From there, you can directly connect your smartphone through its Bluetooth Settings. You can also download the Zepp app and add the Amazfit PowerBuds there. The app is also recommended for adjusting its gesture and workout settings, tweaking the equalizer, and updating the firmware.
When worn, the Amazfit PowerBuds are already a great fit on the ears as long as you’re using the right silicone earplug size. It’s snug and doesn’t fall off even if you shake your head. But if you want to add more stability and make it more secure, you can add the magnetic ear hooks. These are strong magnets and won’t easily come off.
Audio quality is rich and full, although it’s inclined towards the bass. If you’re the type who frequently listens to bass-heavy tracks, then you will love the Amazfit PowerBuds. The noise reduction works well in removing ambient noise. If we want to boost the audio during workouts, we activate Motion Beat Mode for a more immersive audio experience.
To control your music, you can use double-tap and triple-tap touch function to Play or Pause the music, go back or skip tracks, or activate Sir, Google Assistant, or XiaoAi.
When it comes to battery life, the Amazfit PowerBuds can last up to 8 hours (at 50% volume), which is excellent. The case adds another 16 hours for a total of 24 hours of playtime.
The Amazfit PowerBuds is priced at PHP 4,990 and is available for purchase at Home Office PH by Digital Walker. As of writing, it’s currently on sale for PHP 3,990. See the listing here.
