Whenever you’re traveling to new or remote places, there’s always unpredictability. And if you’re the type who tries to be prepared for anything, then you’d agree that a flashlight or any compact lighting is necessary on the go.
To kick it up a notch, the BioLite HeadLamp 330 outdoor wearable can be a lot handy since you can wear it on your head and it has a max brightness of 330 lumens. We got a chance to use it outdoors and here are our first impressions.
BioLite’s headlamps are pretty straightforward. Weighing in at only 69g, the Headlamp 330 has an adjustable non-slip moisture-wicking sweatband with reflective strips at the back.
It’s IPX4 water-resistant so some sweat or rain won’t be a problem. What we have is in the Ember Red color, and it’s also available in Sunrise Yellow, Midnight Grey, and Ocean Teal.
The front profile packs a tilting 9mm panel that carries a 100Lm flood lens, a 230Lm spot lens, and a power/lock button.
Its slightly larger battery pack at the back carries a 900mAh battery that’s rechargeable via a microUSB cable. Also found here are 4 battery indicators.
When wearing, it doesn’t feel too heavy or stuffy as it’s easily adjustable, plus, it stays fit so you don’t have to worry about sudden slipping even when running. Just make sure not to wear it too tight to avoid irritation or headaches.
You can control the Headlamp 330 via the single power/lock button found above the light module.
Right out of the box, you need to unlock the controls first by long-pressing the button for 10-12 seconds or until the red light flashes. Afterward, you can finally enjoy switching between 5 beam modes that can go up to a maximum of 330Lm. It can get very bright that I wouldn’t recommend looking at the light/s directly.
Battery-wise, its 900mAh can last you 3.5 hours on a high setting, while using it on a low setting can last you up to 40 hours. As mentioned earlier, you can monitor the battery through the indicator located at the back, just beside the microUSB port.
Overall, the BioLite Headlamp 330 has been very helpful in our travels, especially when walking through streets without light posts. It’s ideal for hiking or camping and we like how lightweight it is, making it convenient to bring anywhere.
