Along with the new Pixel devices and Home Hub, Google has also unveiled the new Chromecast with a new design and more power under the hood.
The Chromecast 2018 comes in two colors – chalk and charcoal – and has this new design that resembles a smooth pebble. It’s a welcome change as it blends well with the Google Home family.
It retains the same size as its predecessor but comes with a 15% improvement in hardware speed with support streaming in 1080p at 60fps. It also works with Google Home so you can just say what you want to watch on YouTube or Netflix and it will play it right away to your TV. If music is your thing, it also streams YouTube Music and Spotify as well.
In addition, it also supports the new Live Albums from Google Photos so you can get a stream of the people and pets you care about and skip blurry ones and duplicates—all without lifting a finger. Plus, new photos will show up automatically on your TV.
The new Chromecast is priced at $35 and is available from the Google Store starting today in Australia, Canada, Denmark, Finland, Great Britain, Japan, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Singapore, Sweden, and the U.S., with even more countries to follow in 2019.
