Well that didn’t take long. Following @evleaks’ recent tweets about the new Gear smartwatches, Samsung has officially unveiled the Tizen-powered Gear 2 and Gear 2 Neo.
As mentioned in our earlier post, the Gear 2 and Gear 2 Neo come with notable improvements, especially in the design part, compared to the original Gear. Both feature fitness monitors (heart rate monitor, pedometer), music players, IP67 bodies, IrLED sensor to control your TV, and a new OS.
Samsung Galaxy Gear 2 and Gear 2 Neo specs:
1.63″ Super AMOLED (320 x 320) display
1GHz dual-core CPU
512MB RAM
4GB internal storage
2MP AF camera (Gear 2 only)
720p video recording (3GP, MP4) at 30fps
Bluetooth 4.0 LE, IrLED
MP3, M4A, AAC, OGG playback
Accelerometer, Gyroscope, Heart Rate
IP67 Certified Dust and Water Resistant
Noise Cancellation
Li-ion 300mAh battery (up to 2-3 days typical usage, up to 6 days low usage)
Gear 2 : 36.9 x 58.4x 10.0 mm, 68g
Gear 2 Neo : 37.9 x 58.8 x 10.0mm, 55g
Gear 2 : Charcoal Black, Gold Brown and Wild Orange
Gear 2 Neo : Charcoal Black, Mocha Grey and Wild Orange
In case you’re wondering why the new Gear smartwatches don’t sport the “Galaxy” branding, that’s because they are now powered by Samsung’s Tizen OS instead of Android. Although the OS has changed, the wearables will still be able to support more than a dozen Samsung Galaxy smartphones.
The Samsung Gear 2 and Gear 2 Neo is expected to be available around the world starting April. Pricing is yet to be announced.

amazing! i can’t wait to have one!
Kaya pala mas mahaba na ang battery life dahil hindi na Android. Price na lang kulang, sana less than 10k na..
