Looks like the Apple Store (iCampus) inside the Ateneo de Manila University has been selling the iPads at discounted prices. Yes, lower than the suggested retail prices with the 16GB entry-level iPad WiFi selling for only Php23,000.
MB292 iPad WiFi 16GB – Php23,000 (SRP: Php23,990)
MB293 iPad WiFi 32GB – Php27,500 (SRP: Php28,990)
MB293 iPad WiFi 32GB – Php32,000 (SRP: Php33,990)
MC349 iPad WiFi+3G 16GB – Php29,800 (SRP: Php30,990)
MC496 iPad WiFi+3G 32GB – Php33,800 (SRP: Php35,990)
MC497 iPad WiFi+3G 64GB – Php38,500 (SRP: Php40,990)
The Apple iCampus has been distributing these flyers with the discounted prices {via}. We’re not sure if the discounts are only offered to AdMU students and faculties. The discounts aren’t that big, slashing between Php990 to Php2,490 off of the suggested retail prices.
Apple’s local release of the iPad seemed a bit off considering everyone’s already expecting a second generation iPad2 is coming in a next few months.
You can read our full review of the Apple iPad here from way back in April.
Hat tip to Joey Nocom.

Apple iCampus in AdMU is also for us AdMU alumni, too.

@Micks: i like your logic. hope your not taking up law or a law graduate. 20% of Ateneans are on scholarship? so what? that does not mean 20% of the Ateneans population is poor.
@RJCA: it is unfortunate that Ateneans are being stereotyped as rich but can you really blame them? THE Ateneo has one of the highest tuition fees in the country if you do not know..
discount for the rich.. this really happens. I really hope other schools or even apple product distributors offer this educational discount regardless of what school students are from. they do in the US (http://store.apple.com/us/browse/home/education_routing)
if you’re in the market for an iPad, wait for the iPad 2 to be launched. it’s either you get the new features of the 2nd version at the same price range or you can get the 1st gen at a lower price :D

@eagleman – the Philippine Apple Online Store actually gives academic discounts to all students and faculties.
psycho43 says:
instead of wifi anu pa pedeng gamitin for internet access sa ipad???
RJCA says:
I’m really disappointed in the stereotyping that some commenters here are perpetuating, not all Ateneans are rich.
mike says:
can’t afford? hello ateneo yan! afford na afford nila yan!
Manuel says:
OK, somebody help. This(16GB) or iPod touch(32GB)? :|
Paul says:
Galaxy Tab is 35k though… you can get a Core i5 laptop with that
I think they got the local pricing just right on the iPad, it puts it in the same price range as netbooks
jp says:
Galaxy Tab is far better than this iPad. Thats for sure in every aspect except in design or architecture
jp says:
no flash support, u only get watered-down version of some websites.
Micks says:
@ Jay – Not all Ateneans are rich. 20% of the student population are on scholarships.
I think one of the reasons for the discount is the upcoming iPad 2. Stores need to get rid of old stock.
atenean scholar says:
<8% lang ang scholar sa ateneo. ayusin mo facts mo. im an atenean scholar btw.
gadgetsnobrain says:
i’ll just wait for the next generation of these crap! LOL :))

kahit 50k yan kaya ng atenista yan.. yun nga lang the people looking forward to 2nd gen ipad and honeycomb….
ocommon says:
P23k for that thing.. no way!
cha says:
@Jay masyadong cheap shot ka naman.
this is a way for Apple to help out in education.
besides, whether ateneo students can afford it,
may mga murang laptop naman na less than 20k that will do the job too.
RJCA says:
@Jay – Was that really necessary?
Adrian says:
yes. apple rules.
Pedro says:
P23K… still cant afford it… waaah!!!
Jhay says:
This I think is part of Apple’s discount program for educational institutions and students. But the discount prices are still steep for most students.
jay says:
discounts for the rich kids only, oh well…..
Willy Yu says:
nicely priced but came a little too late, but still a great xmas gift idea
Chino says:
The iCampus also sells the entire Apple line-up and it’s accessories for discounted prices. It’s around 10% off.
In addition, the LS Bookstore started selling electronics such as big-name laptops and phones all at around the same discounted price.
This is only for ADMU students and faculty though, they ask for your ID during the transaction.
Teddy says:
Its going to be available this friday, dec. 17 in all authorized resellers. Thats what ive read.
RJCA says:
I asked about the warranty already, it comes with local and international warranty.
RJCA says:
They have been taking orders since November and the units have been available since early December. I was surprised to see the prices too. It’s really cheap especially when you consider the sales tax in the USA.
I <3 my school! Go Ateneo!
Teknisyan says:
as far as I know wala pa… I think napost na dito kung kailan ilalaunch ang ipad officially.. though, if I’m in PH, I’d be waiting for the 2nd Gen iPad, which is already being talked in the blogosphere. :)
phiLLip says:
meron na bang iPad dito? I mean officially. I checked the store.apple.com/ph and I didn’t see any iPads.
