Apple kicked off their event by officially announcing the latest iteration of its mobile platform, iOS 8.1, which features a few new improvements over its predecessor.
In addition to bug fixes and optimizations that are usually associated with these updates, Apple adds a few new software add-ons in the mix which include Continuity (an app that allows users to respond to messages on their Mac running on OS X Yosemite), Apple Pay and Secure Elements which is primarily designed for iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus.
The new software build will also include the return of “Camera Roll” which was axed during the iOS 8 update. But not only did Apple re-introduced Camera Roll, the company also revamped by adding a new app called iCloud Photo Library (Beta) which serves as backup or main storage option for pictures.
The new iOS 8.1 will be available for download to all supported Apple devices (see list below) through iTunes or via Over-The-Air update starting on Monday (or Tuesday in our local time).
All iPhones starting from iPhone 4S
All iPads besides the first gen
5th-Gen iPod Touch and later

Hammad Rafique says:
@fcc yup I’m on iOS 8.1.3 and finally it’s stable and didn’t face any problem with it.
Hammad Rafique says:
I’m really disappointed with this iOS 8x updates, previous release were a disaster and now I’m on iOS 8.0.2 and it’s working fine. But still it has issues and yesterday suddenly the screen went blur, I thought that it’s an hardware issue but iOS 8.0.2 was doing this weird thing.
If Apple is reading my comment, then please make a iOS version that has better features than a jailbroken iOS device. We’re paying higher for your services, don’t let our feelings down.

@ ryanhanhan…. Thanks for pointing out the OS differences.
@Hammad..Cross your fingers that after installing the OS 8.1 , it will fix your phone’s problems and not turn it into a useless crap. Apple really did a number on their customers when they rushed in OS 8.0.1
ryanhanhan says:
What they have is 8.0.1 and 8.0.2 not 8.1 :) take note of the dots :)
fce says:
This is kind of confusing. Several weeks ago Apple released OS.8.1 and this OS was a complete screw up as it rendered thousand of Iphones useless. To correct it, Apple released OS 8.2, which is latest.
Now here comes OS 8.1 again. Is this now the real thing or what??

Oona basahin mo uli comment ni easy e. Sabi nya “iPod” not iPhone… Lol
Oona says:
@Read ikaw yata dapat mag basa ng commeny ko or kahit wiki lang. 2012 pa may 5th gen iPod touch. I included iPhone reference as fyi kasi akala ng iba yung 6 is the generation for jPhones.
Easy E says:
“5th gen ipod touch and later” -hindi ko napansin, may bago palang nirelese?
Oona says:
Errr… 2012 pa meron ng 5th gen sir.. And for reference, iPhone 6 and 6 plus are 8th gen iPhones
