How to get your iPhone 5 battery replacement for free

We’ve recently reported on Apple’s Battery Replacement Program for the iPhone 5 first coming to America and China. Now it’s our turn since the program is now in effect here in the Philippines. Here’s the procedure of what you should do and how to find the nearest service provider.

Assuming that you’ve already followed the steps and you know your iPhone 5 is qualified to have its battery replaced for free, just follow these simple steps:

  1. Choose your method of service:

Note: If you wish to go to an authorized Apple service provider, just click on the link and input your current location for them to give you a list of service provider locations.

  1. Once there, your iPhone 5 will be examined before any service is done just to verify that it is eligible for the program and is in working order.
  2. After verification and everything is good to go, it’s now time to prepare your device for the battery replacement. Be sure to:

  • Backup your data to iTunes or iCloud
  • Turn off Find my iPhone
  • And finally, Erase data and settings (Settings > General > Reset > Erase all Content and Settings)

That’s about it! Apple reminds us, though, that any damage apart from the battery that may affect the process should first be repaired before the procedure for battery replacement begins.

Hi! just sharing I went to 2L of Northeast Square, 47 Connecticut St., Northeast Greenhill’s, San Juan last Saturday 9/12/15, I was told that my I Phone 5 falls in replacement program since the battery is bloated (diagnosis by apple rep) even its not included in the eligibility of SN in apple website, I’m so happy that they will replace the unit, but I’m not sure if its brand new or refurbish, but its okay as long as they replace it for free, :) will wait for 2-3 weeks, for the replace unit, so if your apple falls Sep 2012 – Jan 2013, and have battery issue, don’t hesitate to go to this place and have them check your unit, reps are kind and friendly. credits to them

anyone here who had successfully availed their program that’s hassle-free?

This replacement scheme of apple is a big joke. My iphone 5 is one which is identified to be eligible to be replaced / refunded. However nothing happen to my case.

I had bought an original battery from a non apple provider and replace myself to avoid paying their overprice service + the 2 to 3 days waiting time.

MY battery problem was really bad as i am charging my phone every 3 hours.

Since i cannot produce a receipt from an official apple provider, then they told they cannot give me a refund.

I ask them to give me a new battery instead. They sent me some test for me to run (but only apple can see the results) and tested my battery to working well. therefore i am not eligible.

So this is an offer that i think is crap.

One more thing, di nila papalitan battery pag may ibang sira pa sya like power button so in the end, sa labas ako nagpareplace ng flex for power button and battery (sa Ghills din) for whopping 2K kesa naman di ko magamit spare phone ko..

Can’t you just take the back cover off, take the old battery out, slip in a new one, and replace the back cover?

    :D

Failed to have mine replaced in Senco, DH, BTB. They don’t honor iPhones from different countries (e.g. HKG)
