Apparently, there’s still money to be made from old iPhones since demand for it from other countries are still high. David Gallagher of the NY Times explains in his blog that a group in the US are offering trade-ins of the old iPhones with the new iPhone 3G.
Since Steve Jobs declared that they’re dropping the price of iPhone 3G to $199, people might have the idea that their old iPhones are worth much less than that.
So, imagine if someone offered for your old iPhone for the price of the new iPhone 3G? Sweet deal, huh?
Well, that’s if the 2-year contract is not attached with it. I guess there are enough iPhone users gullible enough to bite the bait.
At $199, an old iPhone could still fetch twice that amount is several Asian countries where it’s not normally available, like China for example. They might even find their way into Greenhills considering the new iPhone 3G goes for as much as Php60,000 a pop nowadays. A Php20,000 iPhone 1.0 could still be a steal to many.

@yosey that too much for an 8gb 3g iphone, sold my 8gb 1st Gen for 20k… the only problem with the iphone bought from the grey market is the “warranty”.. even if you bought it from an authorized apple distributor warranty wont get honored since apple did not officially sold iphones in the Philippines..
Ngayon parang gusto ko nang ibenta iphone ko and wait for the legit iphone baka bigla nalang tong magloko, but then ayaw ko kase.. mamimiss ko sya… hehe

I’ve seen some iPhones (4 GB) at P13,000 to P18,000
The catch? No plug-in-the-wall charger. If you want to charge it, plug it into your computer’s USB. Pwede na, di ba? :-)

yuga, just saw an iphone 3G in Greenhills this afternoon.
It was labeled “just arrived”, and to my surprise (my eyeballs almost popped out of my eye!) it was horribly priced at Php61,500 for just the 8GB iphone 3G. that’s too expensive! i just hope that Globe Telecom wouldn’t price it that much.
