JBL TUNE 600BTNC: Affordable NC headphones

Noise-canceling headphones have been quite a trend over the last few years. Especially for people who are always on the go and want to drown out the world and focus on their itinerary. Here’s a pretty affordable pair of on-ear, noise-canceling headphones from JBL, the TUNE 600BTNC.

These babies come in a multitude of colors ranging from black to blue to pink! And to be fair, if you are a fan of a more industrial design language, you probably won’t be a fan of these since the construction is mostly built out of plastic. Now, don’t get me wrong, the plastic does feel sturdy enough to last you quite a while, but I wouldn’t recommend you just throwing these in a very full backpack.

Fun fact: the leather material used on the TUNE 600BTNC’s ear cushions are actually made out of frog skin!

Yes, they are on-ear style headphones, although I’ve found that people with smaller ears can use them as over-ear ones. Another great thing about these headphones is the fact that it utilizes a flat-fold design which allows the user to store them in a pouch or bag easily. Users can also have them rest on their neck without the ear cups sticking up.

They are also very comfortable and lightweight, I never really felt much listening fatigue with these on my head; which can be ironic since I do get fatigued with more expensive headphones.

In terms of sound quality, the TUNE 600BTNC’s soundstage is apparent and evident. The mids can be a little more pronounced in my opinion, but for how affordable these noise-canceling headphones are, they aren’t too shabby! Bass lovers should be pleased to hear that JBL’s Pure Bass Sound is onboard with these on-ears as well. My preferred listening volume for general consumption is 80% and up.

The noise-canceling on the TUNE 600BTNC’s are pretty good too! They aren’t as good as more expensive offerings from Bose or Sony, but for a fraction of how much those headphones cost, the TUNE 600BTNC’s deserved praise.

For ports, you get micro USB for charging the headphones up, but if you do run out of battery on your commute, you need not worry for you can still use a wired connection with these headphones via the included 3.5mm aux cable included in the box. –Just make sure your device has a 3.5mm audio jack as well.

Aside from the ports on the right cup, the buttons can be found here too. Starting from the most front-facing side, you can find the power button, active noise-canceling button, and multimedia buttons.

Providing power to the JBL TUNE 600BTNC is a 610 mAh battery, with a music playtime rating of 22 hours with ANC off, and 12 hours with ANC on.

The problem with investing your hard-earned money in the purchase of Bluetooth headphones is because the battery cannot be replaced. Let’s face facts, even the best quality Li iOn battery will eventually wear out.

So can the battery in this set of headphones be replaced?
