We’ve heard a lot of good things about SoundPEATS H1. For under PHP 5K, you’re getting a pair of attractive TWS earbuds with Hybrid Dual Drivers, Bluetooth 5.2, 60ms latency, and 10 hours of battery life! That’s something. But how does it sound, and are there any cons to it? Check out our hands-on below.
The SoundPEATS H1 comes in a plastic case with a matte finish. The lid has this gunmetal paint job which makes it look premium. It’s small, very pocketable, but will put a bulge in your jeans pocket.
At the back of the case is a USB-C port and LED indicator to show charging status.
Open the lid, and you will see the earbuds and the LED for the case’s battery level in the middle. At this point, you will also see the LED on the earbuds light up in red to indicate charging.
Remove the earbuds from the case, and the LED will change to white. It’s ready for pairing at this point, so all you have to do is go to your smartphone’s Bluetooth settings and pair to it. A voice prompt will let you know that the connection is successful. It uses Bluetooth 5.2, so the connection is stable and has a good range. You only have to pair once. After that, the H1 will automatically pair to your device.
The earbuds look ergonomic and are also made of high-quality plastic with a matte finish. From here, you can spot holes for the microphones. The inner part, though, is transparent, so you can actually see the driver.
The SoundPEATS H1 is a bit chunky, so it sticks out a bit from your ear when you wear it. It might take a few adjustments before you find that snug fit to ensure it doesn’t fall off. The earbuds are pretty much secure once you find that proper fit. But now and then, we find ourselves pushing it in to make sure. It also has IPX5 protection, so you don’t have to worry about sweating on it.
By default, it uses standard silicone ear tips, but it also comes with Comply Foam Tips that function like memory foam to provide you with a better fit. This is important as the H1 doesn’t have ANC and uses passive noise cancelation instead. In addition, the foam ear tips can block external noise, which is further suppressed by the H1’s cVc 8.0 algorithm.
The H1 uses a Qualcomm QCC3040 chipset, an 8.6mm dynamic driver, and a Knowles balanced armature driver. We streamed lossless audio to it, and we were immediately impressed. At first, we anticipated that it would be inclined towards lows or mids and highs, but no, it was able to deliver the spectrums with enough power and energy.
Eastside by benny blanco, Halsey & Khalid, for example. You will notice the detailed and crisp vocals without the harsh sibilance. That’s more obvious when you hear Halsey’s voice later on. But when the bass drops, you will feel that deep, powerful rumbling. It’s not aggressive, though, but you will definitely feel it.
To further test the bass, we played Get Low by Lil Jon & The East Side Boyz & Yin Yang Twins, and didn’t disappoint. The H1 was loud and just cleanly pumping out those lows.
Overall, the audio quality is powerful and rich. If you want bass, it’s there. If you want crispy treble, it’s there as well.
As for latency, the 60ms latency performs as advertises as we didn’t notice any delay when watching movies or playing games. The recording quality is decent, not great, but good enough for online calls.
When it comes to controls, the H1 features touch controls. You can tap to increase (R) or decrease (L) volume, double-tap to play or pause (L or R), tap and hold to skip (R) or return to previous track (L), triple-tap (R) to activate voice assistant, or triple-tap (L) to activate or deactivate low-latency Gaming Mode.
When it comes to battery life, the SoundPEATS H1 impresses with 10 hours of playback per charge with its 60mAh battery per bud. In addition, the charging chase has a 500mAh battery on the charging case can provide an additional 30 hours. Charging the buds takes 1.5 hours, while the charging case can be charged via a USB-C cable or wireless charger.
The SoundPEATS H1 is available at Digital Walker for PHP 4,290 SRP. There’s an ongoing promo, though, so you can have it for just PHP 3,790. That said, the H1 is definitely one of the best-sounding TWS earbuds you can buy at this price point.
