House Bill filed to stop abusive taxi drivers

To protect commuters from abusive taxi drivers in the country, Valenzuela City Rep. Sherwin Gatchalian has filed House Bill No. 3681 or the Bill of Rights of Taxi Passengers.

Section 3 of H.B. No. 3681 enumerates the Rights of Taxi Passengers which include the right to a properly dressed and courteous driver; a clean, safe and smoke-free taxi; be transported to their stated destination regardless of trip length; request for a quiet/ silent trip; and be given the exact amount of change.

Under Section 4, which lists the Responsibilities of Taxi Drivers and Operators, taxi drivers shall display inside the taxi his driver’s license and the Rights of Taxi Passengers; accept all trips regardless of length, refrain from soliciting or requiring passengers to pay more than the displayed meter fare; and to protect the passenger’s health or safety.

Taxi drivers who violate any of the provisions will be penalized with a minimum fine of Php500 up to Php2,000 for the first offense. Higher penalties will be implemented for succeeding offenses.

mag lagay ng pamalo sa pilahan ng mga taxi
at ang di kumuha ng pasahero papaluin na kaagad

tsaka dapat meron din pamalo sa loob ng taxi mismo
para kung di e bigay ang sukli, paluin ulit.

I remember one time dun sa pila sa megamall. Mahaba ang pila nung time na yun. may 2 tao na may kapansanan (parehong nakasaklay) pumara ng taxi. Umayaw ang taxi. Then siguro sa inis nung isang may kapansanan nagsalita ng malakas “Sana maranasan mo rin ang maging ganito!”

Then biglang umatras ung taxi at pinasakay sila.

Tsaka dapat hindi papayagan bumiyahe yung may mga sakit lalong lalo na yung may mga ubo. Baka hindi alam ng nakasakay nahawaan na sya ng TB.

Dapat tanggalan ng lisensya yung mga taxi drivers na may route kesyo gagarahe na daw, may susunduin, north bound ang punta, trapik kuno, etc. Jeep na lang any imaneho nila, choosy pala sila eh.

Mga taxi na namimili ng pasahero, andaling tumanggi para sa kanila. May magpapara, pag di nila gusto ang destination mo, sasabihin nila kakain or uuwi na sila. Madalas yan. Excuses para di makapagsakay at makapili ng pasahero.

The Taxi drivers in the Philippines never follow etiquette here. In some countries, they are well dressed (some of them), they take care of their passengers, & try to find an alternate route to lessen the bill of the passenger/s. About those apps to pick/reserve a taxi, they will not work unless the company/corporations who run these businesses change! Its costly but, it will improve their overall image & quality. Out of topic, road congestion? Vehicles that have a lifespan of more than 10 years should be removed/junked from the road & be replaced by new ones.

It’s actually just limited to Metro Manila. Taking a taxi in Baguio, Cebu or Davao is a more rewarding experience. The drivers there are more courteous and will give you back your change down to the last centavo

Well sna matuloy yang maging batas kasi whenever we go out with my wife and 2 daughters no choice but to use taxi. Sa megamall its worth mentioning na lahat ng taxi dun n nag pick up ng passengers sa pilihan kung san destination mo dun k dadalin malayo o malapit ksi pag tumanggi sila reported agad un sa megamall at d na pede pumila to pick up passengers.un nga lang pag rush hour n konti lng pumupila n taxi hirap n makakuha ng taxi

Dalawang beses ko nang tinry kumuha ng taxi galing dun sa pila pero tinanggihan nila ako pareho. Same destination pero magkaibang araw. Around 4PM yun at papunta akong Greenhills. Ayaw nila kasi traffic daw. Wow.
