Apple has finally unveiled its next-generation smartphone and, as expected in previous leaks, calls it the iPhone 4S. It looks the same in the outside and all the new goodness are found inside.
The iPhone 4s features a faster Apple A5 chip that’s already found on the iPad 2, an 8MP autofocus camera with 1080p video recording capabilities and a dual-core graphics that promises up 7x better performance.
The most interesting part is that the iPhone 4S supports GSM (with SIM card) and CDMA (without SIM card) networks. No more separate versions for different networks.
Battery life is impressive too at 10 hours on video playback (just like the iPad).
It’s now also HSDPA capable (now up to 14.4Mbps) and EVDO-capable as well so it will definitely be able to maximize the HSPA+ networks of Globe and Smart (although I’m guessing it will still be exclusive to Globe again).
Apple iPhone 4s specs:
3.5″ display @ 960×640 pixels
Apple 1GHz A5 dual-core chip
16GB, 32GB & 64GB internal storage
HSDPA, EVDO 14.4Mbps
WiFi 802.11b/g/n
GPS w/ aGPS
Gyroscope
8MP camera with LED flash
1080p video recording
2nd front-facing camera
2 mics w/ noise-canceling
Bluetooth 4.0
iOS 5
As for the price — it’s $199PHP 11,678INR 16,865EUR 190CNY 1,448 for the 16GB, $299PHP 17,547INR 25,340EUR 285CNY 2,176 for the 32GB and $399PHP 23,416INR 33,815EUR 380CNY 2,904 for the 64GB — all comes with a 24-month contract with your carrier.
In the Philippines, expect the iPhone 4S to be priced the same as the iPhone 4 — around the Php37k (16GB) and Php42k (32GB) mark with the 64GB possibly hitting the Php47k range. Pre-order starts on October 7 and release is on October 14 but that’s for the US. It’s unknown when it will be for the Philippines but Singapore is getting it on October 28.
And sorry, there’s no iPhone 5.

No iPhone 5 yet :(

SOSO – Same old, same old…

Just got off the Engadget live blog. Being a Galaxy S2 user, the only thing I’m jealous of is Siri which is kind of expected since it is the biggest feature. Shame it’s the same screen though, would’ve been better if they made it bigger at least. Kind of disappointed that it wasn’t the iPhone 5. Now we really have something to look forward to next year.
jayman says:
nothing mindblowing…they cant even take a good potshot at sgs2…and iOS the biggest OS for mobile??? really???
Jim says:
Epic fail for Apple… Just a few (lame) upgrades to the iPhone 4. I don’t think Siri will be a hit (think about it, everybody’s listening and knows what you are doing with your iPhone).
Waiting for the Nexus Prime!
Ronald says:
How is it “same old same old”? I think you missed the point here. Also, really complaining about the screen size? If we’re really talking about the phone’s features and capabilities then I think iPhone 4S (despite not being called iPhone 5) is a MAJOR upgrade.
The game-changing killer app here is SIRI. Which by the looks of it is unlike any feature in any phone in the market now.
But I have to admit, it seems super creepy though!!
lolz says:
typical blind apple fanboy
upgrade: Yes
MAJOR upgrade: NO
the best upgrade it got was the A5 chip, but that’s just matching what the ipad 2 had months ago. aside from that, the only other good upgrade was the camera.
but hey, i’m sure you’ll still love it like it’s your own child and disagree with me and defend it with all your heart and soul.

winmobile 7 beats apple with its 7.5 mango update a couple of weeks ago for the functionality that SIRI offers.
jayman says:
siri is not an apple innovation but a bought one…if you do your homework nothing is new or major…period
Jake says:
iPhone 4S, a big disappointment!!! was expecting for a new design, bigger screen, and 4G LTE.. now im reconsidering of buying the phone.. :(
Tristan says:
