Contest: Want a Linksys E4200 router for your home?

Cisco sent us two of their high-end WiFi routers, the Linksys E4200, and says we can give away one to our readers. So here’s your chance to upgrade your home WiFi to speeds of up to 450Mbps.

The Linksys E4200 is one of many new WiFi routers that Cisco recently launched in the Philippines {see story here}.

This particular model is on the top of the heap, has dual-band WiFi-N frequency at 2.4GHz and 5GHz with 6 internal antennas. It has a USB port for external storage, multimedia streaming (UPnP AV media server) or as a print server.

Aside from the powerful WiFi, it’s got a 4-port Gigabit (that’s 1000Mbps) switch at the back for wired connections. Will test both units at home for the time-being and write a short review.

Suggested retail price is Php8,595USD 146INR 12,416EUR 139CNY 1,067.

  41. I’ve got a Linksys 2.4GHz, 54Mbps router for several years already. We’ve been very happy with it all these years. But with 4 kids + 2 of us, all with wifi devices, poor router is having a bad time coping with our ever increasing demands. By my last count, we’ve got 18 devices using wifi, as follows:

    how i wish i could have this wonderful linksys router so i could enable GIGABIT connection with my desktops and laptops (wired LAN) as well as improve my wireless connectivity because of the capabilities of this router having a dual band radio, meaning all the interferences from my neighbors wifi routers can be avoided by me using the 5ghz frequency from this fabulous router :)

  553. Wow, isn’t this just the perfect timing! We have tried a number of routers because no matter how we troubleshoot and get someone to repair and even ended up upgrading our PLDT MyDSL connection, it STILL always end up unstable. I’m not sure if the router we use/d weren’t compatible with the modem or the Mac is using up most of the signal and bandwidth or whatever else it is but I’m sure you know how annoying it gets when you get disconnected every 5-10 minutes or so because it keeps on “kicking” us out!
