I’ve been using JoikuSpot for some time now and it’s been one of the most useful apps on my mobile phone to date. The app basically turns your phone into a WiFi hotspot running on 3G internet.
All you need to do is install JoikuSpot on your phone, run the app and select which internet connection to use (i.e. 3G). That’s it — it will then use the built-in WiFi of your phone to turn itself as an access point.
I’ve posted another tutorial here before on how to share 3G internet of your laptop to other devices via WiFi but that requires your phone to be connected via Bluetooth or USB to your laptop. With JoikuSpot, the phone itself becomes the wireless access point.
The JoikuSpot Light version is free but has limited features — only supports http/https protocol. The Premium edition is only €7 euros (down from €25) and has full functionality and security features.
The only drawback with the software is that only Nokia models are supported (or phones running Symbian v3 OS). I was hoping they’ve also do one for the iPhone, WinMo and Android. Download the lite version here.
There’s another one called Walking Hotspot but they’ve already discontinued offering a trial version so you need to buy the license before trying it out.
hey, i have downloaded joikuspot light on my nokia e75. It got installed correctly and i restarted my phone to complete the installation. Now i go to apps->joiku and start it. the wifi logo turns green. I can see the same wifi access point in my laptop but it comes as a “limited connection” and i am not able to connect to internet on my laptop. pls suggest the needful..thanks
Just FYI, Joikuspot is not only for Nokia Phones. I have a sony ericson vivaz pro and was able to install Joikuspot 2012 edition on it and have been using it as my hotspot. My Android 4 Tablet has no problem connecting to it. I have an LG Optimus L7 cell, this one is having a problem finding my Joikuspot hot spot. Does anybody know what settings or what I should do? Pls email me at tobanat****@****.***. Thank you.
P.S. when u download Joiku on a non Nokia phone it will say For Nokia phones only…download it anyway. It worked for me, it should work for you.
@Teks: I’m using it on my e63. The iPod touch connects to it. ^_^

Hi, sorry for the ignorance, but will i be charged by globe for using this program if i use the internet on my ipod touch? or surfing is for free kapag ito yung gamit? thanks!
but where to find this joikuspot?
@Nika – I think not working pa ito sa iPhone & iPod Touch. For Samsung & Nokia pa lang. Correct me if i’m wrong. :)
I’d been wanting to get BB 9700, but after hearing bout joiku, I might be going for E72 nalang. Aside from being cheaper (read KURIPOT), I can just install this and have ipod touch for browsing instead. And I’ve heard a lot of issues regarding BIS plan with globe and smart. I’m currently in Saudi by the way, kung di dahil sa tv patrol di ko mahahanap site mo. Very useful indeed, hands down master yugatech!
does it work on a non-3G phone with wifi?? like nokia 5530 expressmusic??
I just installed the JoikuSpot Light. Should I purchase the premium instead in able for me to connect?
@byron: where’s that located?
dhors, did you see the “landing page” or landing tab on your browser? Maybe it’s supposed to be kept open.
done installed on my phone. but I can’t use it? Why? anybody could share how to use it? thanks.
i download it … hope it work with me as well
its WMWifiRouter for winmo… you can get it here http://www.joikushop.com/?action=products&mode=productDetails&product_id=265 for 23.79 EUR..
Got it tested on my E75. Without power plugged in, it lasted 3 hours. Not bad, not bad :)
Yep, any similar app for blackberry, or is this compatible to blackberry?
i installed this on my nokia e71 and it works just fine. I’m planning to buy a blackberry this week though, but i’m now changing my mind ‘coz i like this app.
@abe or anyone – how does the license work? let’s say you change phones, from e71 to e72, would you have to purchase a new license again? or that’s alright for as long as you do it only once?
licensing can be a bit tricky.
@ron – I think it’s one license per phone.
any similar app for blackberry?
ill try this… pero la naman ako pag si sharin hehehe
A great app indeed! plugged in my globle 3G unli on my E75 phone and i’m browing WIFI! Gonna check on how this drains the battery.
nice find yuga! did you purchase the premium edition? I was trying to purchase, but greeted by unverified certificate warning by firefox. :(
For windows mobile phones, use WMWiFi Router. Works just like JoikuSpot, even better since it is not only limited to sharing your 3G connection via wifi.
pwede po ba to sa Sony Ericsson Cellphones???
been using this for over a year now… simple warning for everybody… don’t use joikuspot while you’re charging your phone or else it will eventually overheat your battery and lower it’s life span…
Hail Pinoy Geeks!!! http://GeekPinoy.com
Been using Walking Hotspot ever since it was in beta. Never had a problem with it. I prefer it to Joikuspot as it has been much more stable with my E90.
wow this is neat! :D Bad thing is hindi pwede sa sony ericsson phones to? K800i kasi phone ko e.
But the concept is good indeed; pwde ka na mag net kahit san basta 3G ang phone mo :D
Anyone know of similar apps pero pwede sa ibang phones like sony ericsson? share naman kayo :D
I think there’s a freeware app for windows mobile. I forgot the name but works well on winmo and its free. I was actually planning on installnig one for my diamond2 then buy an ipod touch so I can use my SUN unlimited broadband on an ipod touch (sold my iphone to my sister).
It’s useful if you want to share your unlimited broadband with friends without handing over your simcard.
wow! can I used it to my N5800 for free anywhere?
d yta pwd sa n73 to?hehe.syang.hehe.peru very gud ung app
I got the software the other day kahit hindi ko pa nabibili yung e63 ko. It’s really cheap pa kasi 7 euro (around 10.33 USD) yung price instead of the regular 25 euro. I’ll be buying an e63 and Ipod Touch this January so I decided to avail their premium version. Para pag nasa slex yung bus, I can enjoy wifi with my Ipod Touch. :D I decided to get the actual joiku software instead of Globe wifi because I prefer Smart or Sun when I surf the net. Saka right now Smart has their Unli Surf plan, at 50 a day, ok na siya especially if traffic sa slex.
In Addition, JOIKUSOFT Co. who develops JOIKUSPOT has new innovative software solution called JoikuBoost, which enhances the mobile internet connection speed of JoikuBoost-enabled devices.
JoikuBoost improves mobile internet connection speed by wirelessly combining 3G data connections between multiple mobile phones in multiple operator 3G networks. The actual internet speed multiplies as the data bits transported in a JoikuBoost WiFi network simultaneously flow through multiple operator 3G networks.
JoikuBoost looks for other JoikuBoost users within close proximity. With user permission, JoikuBoost aggregates the 3G data connections over WiFi and creates a larger, unified and shared bit pipe. Multiple JoikuBoost-enabled phones are able to join and create WiFi Share Hubs, providing the ability to create personal 4G Wifi networks over 3G with friends and associates, meanwhile forming an internet connection which boost the mobile internet user experience to a totally new level.
just found at the answer to my query lol.

its a really cool app. sana nga lang may app nito para sa iphone.. by the way sir yuga, congrats at na feature ka sa TV Patrol last night. im happy that i am a fan of yours…
@rell advice – very stable. The phone tends to become hot since it’s running 3G and WiFi at the same time.
@luiboowee – WiFi is a must but 3G can be substituted by GPRS or just EDGE.
I think I know the answer but I’m asking anyways. Does your Nokia phone needs to have both 3G and WiFi for you to be able to turn it into a WiFi Hot Spot?
I’ve read about this waaay back – concept period pa lang ata. Didn’t know it materialized already. Hope its good though.
Nice concept! How’s the performance of the application? is it stable?
I have also been using Jokiuspot for a while now sa N5800 ko, and yes, super useful nga nito :)
Sana nga lang may unlimited internet subscriptions na rin sa globe para mas ma-sulit ko ‘tong application na ‘to ^^
