Microsoft’s Internet Explorer 9 (IE9) has just been made available for download a few hours ago. First came out into beta back in September 2010, Microsoft’s IE9 supports HTML5 and comes with a lot of bells and whistles.
Some of the features included in IE9 aren’t really new and have long been available in other browsers like Google’s Chrome.
And as I’ve said before…
The new IE9 feels faster, looks cleaner and more integrated (design-wise) to Windows 7. So far, I’m a somewhat impressed with the additional bells and whistles. It’s like Chrome + ActiveX = IE9. The address bar also serves as search box.
It’s got a smaller footprint too and event he installation file is just 18MB (though Firefox is only around 8MB and Flock is 13MB). I was pretty interested with the HTML5/CSS3 support and the web app approach which is something I’m planning to include in the upcoming re-design of this blog.
And just like what Chrome does, each tab of IE9 runs as a separate process so even if a windows freezes up or crashes, you can close it and the other windows will remain open and running just fine.

unless revolutionary, i really dislike IE.
sorry but for me the only thing its good for is to download firefox or chrome.
Benchmark33 says:
I still prefer Firefox…Simple yet elegant…plus much more safer than IE. :-)
arj says:
sweet. but ie9 is my secondary browser
@benchmark33 says:
But you haven’t tried IE9.
KennyV says:
Nice. Pero hassle na mag shift, masaya na ako sa Chrome.
JKisaragi says:
Nice. I’m actually using it right now. A bit unsure about the tab placement kasi share sila ng space with the address & search bar, which if you open up a lot of tabs it’ll look really cramped.
Tried searching just now on IE9, mas mabilis parin mag return ng results ang Google Chrome.
Anyhow, it’s still nice to see that there’s somewhat an improvement. They’re moving forward with the unified address and search bar too. :)

I’ve never been an IE fan, Chrome is still my favorite out of IE, Opera, Firefox, Safari….

safari pa din.
orak says:
I downloaded Microsoft IE9 for its speed and power, which come from its use of HTML 5 and hardware acceleration. Microsoft claimed that the browser can draw on processing power from the PCs graphics processor as well as from the central processor. However, the sad part is that it won’t run on my WinXp :(
Norman says:
Simplicity speaking, I will go for Chrome, next Safari then Firefox. IE not in my list.
adam says:
I’m going to try this version of IE. Though I older version to be slow.
adam says:
Sorry I mean older version seems to be slow.
Jhay says:
Hahaha, sigurado konti lang magdodownload nian, 80% ng Pinas fake ang OS nila.
Messie says:
Alright, so I downloaded and installed IE9 for Win7 64bit , here are the things I noted about this browser:
-First feedback: ang bagal mag install =/
-‎2nd feedback: needs a restart after installation. Hmmm.. Windows 7 is treating this like an OS update. May configuring windows pa upon reboot.
-First thing I did is to work on bookmarks. it crashed agad when I imported them from firefox. I don’t know why pero you can’t import bookmarks from Chrome (not in the choices). Ginawa ko na lang is export bookmarks to file sa Chrome tapos import sa IE
-Managing bookmarks is a pain. You can’t select multiple bookmarks so you can’t delete them. Every bookmark is treated like a hot link so dragging to select multiple bookmarks is not possible.
-I needed to download a special flash player for this since my browser is 64 bit. It’s called the flash player “Square” from Adobe.
-Big turn-off: Middle click to open in new tab does not work in IE 9!!! >( I miss it already
-I tried to pin facebook but the jump list feature did not work. I don’t know why. Besides, when you open a pinned site, it opens in another window instead of another tab. I don’t know if you can set that in a way.
-So I tried playing Cafe world in it. It looked a bit different, meaning there was “some” 3d rendering was used, but it is still laggy on my end. There might be some improvement but it is too menial to notice.
So generally, it feels a bit unstable. There were some setting that I think I’m not used to, being a firefox and chrome user. Yeah, it may rival Chrome in speed, but I don’t feel comfortable using IE. Alright, alright it just came out… maybe I’ll wait for some updates before setting it up as my default browser.
End verdict: I’m putting IE 9 on the wait list for now and will still be using Google Chrome =D
Teknisyan says:
I like the new IE 90, I did try the beta version but it was too buggy and causing a lot of conflicts with the tools that I’m using. So waited for the GM version to be released and so far everything looks good. :)
