This evening, HTC Philippines launched 3 new smartphones — the HTC HD Mini, HTC Smart and the HTC Legend — each one running a different OS.
HTC HD Mini
Qualcomm 7227 600 MHz processor
3.2-inch display @ 320×480 pixels
384MB RAM, 512MB ROM
up to 32GB via microSD
HSDPA 7.2Mbps, HSUPA 2Mbps
WiFi 802.11 b/g, Wi-Fi router
Bluetooth 2.1 w/ A2DP
5MP autofocus camera
FM radio with RDS
GPS w/ aGPS support
1200mAh Li-Ion battery
Windows Mobile 6.5.3 Professional
The HTC HD Mini is positioned as a smaller version of the popular HTC HD2 (albeit with a slower CPU) but has some pretty interesting features like multi-touch support, pick-to-mute, and the WiFi router function. The HD Mini will be available by May for a suggested retail price of Php29,200USD 498INR 42,182EUR 474CNY 3,624.
HTC Smart
300 MHz processor
2.8-inch display @ 240×320 pixels
256MB RAM, 256MB ROM
up to 16GB via microSD
HSDPA 3.6 Mbps
Bluetooth 2.0 w/ A2DP
3.15MP camera w/ LED flash
FM radio with RDS
1100mAh Li-Ion battery
It’s got no WiFi and no GPS so that could be a disappointment to many. The HTC Smart will be released this May for a suggested retial price of Php12,900USD 220INR 18,635EUR 209CNY 1,601.
HTC Legend
Qualcomm MSM 7227 600MHz CPU
3.2 inches AMOLED display @ 320×480 pixels
384 MB RAM, 512 MB ROM
up to 32GB on microSD
WiFi 802.11 b/g
HSDPA 7.2 Mbps, HSUPA 2 Mbps
Bluetooth 2.1 w/ A2DP
5MP autofocus camera with LED flash
Stereo FM radio with RDS
GPS w/ aGPS support
1300mAh Li-Ion battery
Android 2.1 with HTC Sense UI
As reported earlier, the HTC Legend is looking to be the upgrade to the HTC Hero with a unibody design, Android 2.1 and an AMOLED display. The HTC Legend is now available in stores with a suggested retail price of Php31,700USD 540INR 45,794EUR 514CNY 3,934 (right in the middle of my estimates last week).
All three units will have the usual HTC Sense UI as a layer on top of the operating system. The HD Mini might be in a rocky position considering the handset will not be eligible for the Windows Mobile 7 upgrade when it becomes available.

chad says:
Hi sir, may you please compare xperia x10 and legend? In terms of features. Thanks! :)

Spidey says:
Remotely attended the launch! Wohooo!
Lucky boy Calvin, congrats for winning the raffle!
Calvin says:
haha thanks. pero wala pa saken yung phone so hindi pa official. :P
Abe Olandres says:
@calvin – to think you were there earlier, I thought you’d blog about it ahead of me.
snpklsdmbldr says:
walang HTC Desire! why does the Philippines gets the UGLY android phones first? T_T
daddy joey says:
pacanton ung nanalo ng HTC HD mini. hehe! photos of the event posted on my blog :) tnx
The Teknisyan says:
I so envy those people who attended the event… ohh… well.. tsk! tsk!
a friend actually got me a present… pics of rhian ramos!! :)
the yawner says:
Aww… Just a couple of bucks short of an Xperia X10. Guess I’ll just have to wait for my budget to reach that amount, or for HTC to launch the high end handsets (Desire et al) and possibly drive the Legend’s price down.
cris says:
Quite pricey pa rin. At Php18k puede na hehe… *kuripot mode*
Kyle says:
How would the Legend’s price affect the Hero? Isn’t the Hero’s local price higher?
rob says:
No Incredible?
dongv says:
IMHO, HTC Legend should be running iPhone OS, hehe!
Abe Olandres says:
@Kyle – should bring down the price of the Hero under 30k.
@rob – the Desire is next, then the Incredible
Adrian says:
I like the HTC HD Mini. It’s kinda cool :)
robert says:
kelan irerelease ung Desire and Incredible? this month rn kaya? :D
Miklos says:
Samsung Galaxy S here in Philippines please :)
Kevin says:
abe, do you know any android phone but with a qwerty keypad (not a slideup) ?
Miguel says:
Yup, a BlackBerry Bold form factor Android would be nice –
come to think of it, I don’t think anyone else besides RIM has done that form factor + resolution.
snpklsdmbldr says:
is it safe to say that HTC Desire, when released here in the Philippines will cost more than 31 thousand since it is way better than the legend? :D of thats the case then i’ll just buy for it abroad :D
Gar says:
Are these actually available in stores? I haven’t seen an HTC Legend on display or available in the metro area. Checked mega, trinoma and sm annex.
the yawner says:
I checked last week and checked again yesterday. Megamall still doesn’t have these phones. One store had the WinMo phone HD2, but the most recent HTC handsets they have on display: Hero and Tattoo.
Aldrin says:
saan kayang store meron na ng HTC Legend?
the yawner says:
I’ve checked Megamall last week and still no dice. In Galle, I took note that Wellcom is selling Hero at around 25K (possibly acknowledging that Legend will be out soon), pero wala din. MOA is still no go. But I found this one small shop there that has an HTC Desire. Kaso 40K! Ouch…
Aldrin says:
@the yawner saan yung small shop na yun? thanks.
Kyle says:
