According to a source close to HTC Philippines, the HTC Sensation (the Taiwanese company’s own dual-core flagship smartphone) is scheduled to be released in the Philippines this June.
The problem though is that, by that time, the Samsung Galaxy S2 and the LG Optimus 2X will have a head start at attracting most of the early adopters who are willing to shell out enough dough for their premium price.
HTC Sensation specs:
4.3 inches @ 540 x 960 pixels
1.2 GHz dual-core processor
Adreno 220 GPU
Qualcomm MSM 8260 Snapdragon
Gorilla glass display
HTC Sense v3.0 UI
1 GB storage, 768 MB RAM
up to 32GB via microSD, 8GB included
HSDPA 14.4 Mbps, HSUPA 5.76 Mbps
WiFi 802.11 b/g/n, DLNA, WiFi hotspot
Bluetooth 3.0 with A2DP
8MP autofocus camera, dual-LED flash
1080p @ 30fps video, stereo sound recording
GPS with A-GPS support
Li-Ion 1520 mAh
Android OS, v2.3 (Gingerbread)
HTC Philippines will have a hard time pitching this device above Php30k (actually their usual price for a flagship phone is about Php35k — like the Desire and the Desire HD). The obvious culprit is the Optimus 2x with its Php28k price point.
So in order to compete with the two other smartphones, HTC will have to sacrifice and pull a magical Php29,990USD 511INR 43,324EUR 487CNY 3,722 price tag or lower on this one. The date and price is not yet final though so we’ll update you once we get more solid information.

The phone is good! But the OS sucks! I really hate Android!
bongskie says:
Anong OS ang ok sa yo?
peace says:
crapple ios…… *sabay takbo*
lolipown says:
Are you kidding? He sounds like someone from the age of symbian
uboy says:
I’m a symbian user, FYI, we most likely don’t engage on trolling as we know our OS of choice is inferior. So Ever thought maybe the regular Yuga troll is coming from obvious platform suspects? sheesh!
Ows says:
Huh? Crappy daw ang iOS? Anong OS kya ang nangagaya at pilit na ginagaya?
Air21 says:
SYMBIAN IS ALREADY OLD. ALTHOUGH NOKIA IS QUITE GOOD IN TERMS QUALITY.

Huh? Crappy daw ang iOS? Anong OS kya ang nangagaya (iOS) at pilit na ginagaya (android)?
at abangan nyo ang WP7… very promising OS. kabahan ka na istib dyabs.
Richmond Nuguid says:
Windows Phone 7 po.
curious says:
boring OS for stupid people
no more says:
there is no more boring OS than the iOS. seriously youre homescreen is the menu? WTH?
yes its easy. its easy for kids/stupid grownups but for a more intelligent/advanced user wp7/android is the best = fact
John says:
HAHA, boring daw WP7? na try mo na ba yun? it is one of the best OS i ever used.. yun nga lang marmaing kulang, pero kung sakalng pareparehas na sila.. wp7 is way better than the others.
curious says:
if you think tiles and a long list of applications is better than icons, then you really are stupid. it gets old really fast and you only have a few options to customize. though i have to admit the interface is butter smooth, that’s just it.
just because people find w7 boring doesn’t mean they are die-hard fans of IOS or android. you, on the other hand, is the one showing your fanboyism on an android-related post.
this is coming from somehow who has used a mozart, btw.
mikey says:
there is no singular OS greater than the other. each OS has their advantages and disadvantages. iOS has the largest app store, droid is much more customizable, wp7 is, uhmm, windows? before anyone starts trashing one OS and says theirs is better, just know that it’s a matter of preference – fact.
i personally prefer iOS and droid (a jailbroken iOS is amazing), wp7 didn’t really impress me when i checked it out from my friend’s phone, but he seemed to love it so it must be good. just my 2 cents.
karl says:
iOS = good OS but expensive phone (iphone)
Windows OS = expensive OS
Android OS = good, free, customizable

Good price! But I hope it’ll be around 25k after some few months.

Air21 says:
HTC phones are so overpriced ! who will get that? Lg and Samsung with dual core processors are now available.
lame..
Mat says:
I would, and will. HTC devices are, usually, worth working out the extra cash.
Mr. rious says:
I believe air21 is just a newbie who only patronizes the well known brands like Nokia, Samsung, et AL.. Dude processor is just one part of the whole system. Look at the other specs!!! oh ho ho ho… btw… maybe you just can’t afford an HTC am I right? hahaha
Air21 says:
It’s about the marketing, it’s not about money.
Zo says:
they’re not overpriced i think, they’re just really expensive phones because HTC really puts time and effort in all their phones.
Hardware pa lang ng phone hindi na sila nambabarat. Kaya tingin ko para sa pinapasok nila sa phone reasonable ang pricing nila.
Kei says:
I agree that HTC phones are much more expensive than the others, but not overpriced IMHO. I love the build quality and the aura of their devices. It looks solid and doesn’t feel plasticky like LG’s and Samsung’s.
I have been an HTC user since HTC wizard’s days. I appreciate the progress and innovation they make.
karl says:
crappy battery life!!! i would go for Samsung Galaxy S II. The HTC Sensation doesn’t have the UNIBODY design like the DESIRE.
Faith@ahead says:
new phones almost every month!if this keeps going, maybe people would change phones every year! I hope these companies would have efficient recycling facilities for that!
al says:
i know a lot of people who replace their phone often, ive had 4 phones within 6 months from 9700 to ip4 to a galaxy s to desire hd and trust me my friends have had more within a year. Its like phone war we’re together.
Zo says:
oh man, having this priced below 30k will make me opt for this over the S2!
I prefer Sense over Touchwiz.
Only downside to this is the internal memory which really sucks compared to the S2, but hey, that’s where micro sds come in anyway :D
Zo says:
and they just really have to price it lower than 30k because if they don’t Samsung and LG will get the upper hand in the market.
That’s why I’m loving the 2x because it’s brought in a price point which’ll force competitor’s to lower theirs :D
Richmond Nuguid says:
iOS: Masyadong mahal ang mga apps.
Android: Madaming Malware ang mga free apps ng mga developers.
I prefer the Nokia WP7 edition.

You prefer a non existent phone?
CarloBlogg Online3.0 says:
wow, the specs is impressive, the price is nice too, considering that its already dual core :D mga ilang oras kaya ang battery nyan sir yuga? :D
Frances says:
Ohman, this device is so tempting. Been looking for possible candidates to replace my N1 and so far only this has met my standards. The price is a bit off-putting, though, but you can expect that it’ll be worth every Peso if it’s HTC.
NineSwordz says:
Pag tiningnan mo yung mga phones ng HTC sa gsmarena parang iisa lang sila lahat.. pare-pareho kasi yung design eh. LOL. Anyway, VERY nice specs.. Adreno 220 FTW!
HAHAman says:
It all comes down to the software and performance.
It doesn’t really matter if all of them has dual-core processors. It’s no use if phones have good processors if their software keeps bogging them down. Reviews on the Optimus says that LG rushed the Optimus 2X for a Guinness record. Leaving the software of the phone to fend for themselves. Now, with the Sammy and HTC phones. Their software has effort put into them because Sammy and HTC realized that LG beat them to the record and there’s nothing anymore to race for. Now, again. It all comes down to the software and THE BUYER. If they are willing to put down 30,000 for a phone why not? at least they are satisfied. Rather than shelling 2,000 only realizing that the 30,000 phone that the sales rep that showing off was way better and has more bang-for-the-buck.
HAHAman says:
shelling 2,000 less*

Im waiting for a phone from htc that has the dual core specs of Sensation and slide out qwerty keyboard of desire z. The perfect phone for business users
mikey says:
looking forward to this phone, no confirmed release dates nor price yet but pre ordering anyway. would love to compare this to my GGS2, although hardware wise i don’t expect HTCS to be any better. i’m more interested in the screen because this is the closest i’ve seen to match Retina Display. this might make my ip4 look ancient. hmm, Super AMOLED+ vs. qLCD vs. Retina Display?
Lrae says:
1gig internal storage? fail even though you can add an micro sd card
Paul says:
Head to head battle with the LG 2X…
Sensation only SLCD? Thats a bummer.
Internal memory 1Gb…the 2X has 8GB, this one is better for more apps. Running apps from internal memory is still the best
Props for the Sensation having a bigger RAM…768Mb compared to 512MB for the 2X
At least the Sensation has Bluetooth 3 LOL. Although its front facing camera is only VGA? Buti pa yung 2x kinaya 1.3MP
Sensation comes with Android 2.3 but the 2X will be having that one too soon. 1.2Ghz dual core compared to 1Ghz…
The 2X really ruined their debut price of 35k lol. Sayang yung extra income ahahaha. Now they really have to compete price wise.
Edille says:
:D I will try to buy this one since it looks so good to me.
thejackal says:
I hope they paired it with a very good battery. I’m an HTC phone user and my battery didn’t last a day!!!
Messie says:
HTC had great reviews in terms of quality of build and HTC Sense. Medyo weird nga lang kasi sobrang magkakamukha ang mga phones nila. Well, gawa na rin siguro ng paraan nila ng pag-gawa ng phones. HTC makes their units from one aluminum metal body. Hindi siya pinagtagpi tagpi lang. That’s why it feels more solid than other phones. Ayun na nga siguro, meron siguro silang master mold or something and nilalagyan na lang nila ng kaunting variations depende sa model.
curious says:
meant to say wp7 for w7 and iOS for IOS before someone attacks my earlier post

with all these dual-core android phones coming up..don’t know what to chose..should I take Optimus 2X, Galaxy S2 or HTC’s Sensation.
al says:
if you’re an android fan your most likely into customization, rooting or custom rooms and this dual core phone has its bootloader locked. No custom kernels for you guys, Galaxy s 2 would be your best choice for now.

correct ka dyan pre!!! for me d best talaga ang HTC sensation.

This dual core feature will put its batter running upto 2 hours only, compared to Desire HD’s 4 hour life span.
Way to go HTC!

SGS2 & Sensation Differences:
SGS2:
Display: Super AMOLED plus (winner)
thickness: 8.5mm (winner)
weight: 116g (winner)
memory: 16/32GB (winner)
RAM: 1GB (winner)
Battery: 1650mAh (winner)
front camera: 2MP (winner)
Sensation:
display: S-LCD (loser)
thickness: 11.3mm (loser)
weight: 148g (loser)
memory: 1GB (loser)
RAM: 768MB (loser)
Battery: 1520mAh (loser)
front camera: VGA (loser)
*it’s obvious that SGS2 is the WINNER!!!
Name: Ferdz says:
Bwaaahahaha bias……… sg s2 and lg optimus us look like the same the only difference in the appearance is the thickness and the brand logo, no originality and common design wha haha poor design. The htc as aluminum casing and edge looks verry elegant and expensive winner. With dual flash camera winner, with qHD resolution winner, full display on web browser compair to gs2 winner , with 3d look on it’s lates ui 3.O winner again. The front camer is not much use no need for mega pixed, the internal memory 1gb is enough becos it’s expandable upto 32gb. most advantage added features of GS2 is useless mapansin Lang whaaaaahahaha. Looser. Htc is the winner.
karl says:
HTC Disadvantages:
*Death grip
http://www.gottabemobile.com/2011/06/06/htc-sensations-death-grip-killing-wifi-bluetooth-signals/
*NO unibody design
*poor camera
*poor battery life
http://www.techenclave.com/mobile-phones/techradar-reviews-htc-sensation-laments-poor-192162.html
*poorer s-lcd display than other htc displays even though qHD resolution
caleeb says:
pfff.sgs2 fanboy? have u even tried using HTC? HTC has the best UI among android phones.napaka poor ng UI samsung boring xDD
martins says:
Karl,
If you read other reviews out there some prefer Sensation over SGS2 because sense is much better than wiztouch. and others also prefer the solid build quality of htc over the plasticky samsung. so for some these two reasons alone overcome the “superior” SGS2 specs.
joom says:
i agree.. for some the actual “experience” is all that matters. htc sense is simply the best UI for android….. though, AS OF NOW, im eyeing for SGS2. hahaha
karl says:
HTC Sensation’s 1GB internal storage is not enough since there are still a lot of apps that do not allow you to save to SD and the 1gb gets used up very quickly.
*add that to tons of Sensation’s disadvantages, hahaha
footballer says:
at 30k the sensation is expensive but not more expensive than iphone4. im comparing it against iphone 4 because sensation is competing against iphone 4 and to some is actually an iphone killer. moreover, when iphone 5 comes out i doubt it will be selling at 30k. wouldnt it at least be 36k?
ita baluga says:
dont buy HTC is China Made! we Condem the chinese happened for filipino fisherman and spratly ina-ankin nila masyado cla ganid at swapang malaki na ang total land area samantala ang spratly 480 miles ang layo samantala ang spratly 80 miles lang it means belong to philippine inlands. Sag says:
HTC is a Taiwanese brand. Taiwan has more issues with China than we do. Someone needs to brush up on their current events.
Sige good luck trying to boycot all products with Chinese components. You might have to move to the mountains, wear shirts made of banana leaves, and forage for fruits for food.

Iphone padin ang best OS.

iOS(Iphone) padin ang the best.
karl says:
Even though SGS2 is released earlier than Sensation, there are Sensation stocks already available here in the Philippines with prices as low as 28k (bargain?).
HTC tried their best to arrive here in the Philippines before SGS2 does because they know that they can’t fight against SGS2 head on. Sensation will surely lose.
Although the price of Sensation drops, nobody seems to be buying it. We’re all waiting for SGS2 even HTC-fanboys LOL.
I would have switched to HTC Sensation if only it has
*at least 8GB Internal Memory
*no DEATH GRIP issue
*better battery
*better camera
Joanna says:
Heard a lot of bad news about GalaxyS2 as being less durable plus the plastic-build feeling.
HTC is still for the win!
Thanks Yuga. :) I’m aiming for the HTC Sensation XE!
