I forgot to add that yesterday, during our meeting with Globe and Samsung, I was also able to play with another handset which features the new Bada OS — the Samsung S8500 Wave.
Again, sorry for not being able to take photos but I wasn’t allowed to take one.
But let me share with you some of my thoughts after tinkering around with it.
- The phone is pretty solid and has a bit of heft due to that metal construction. It’s slim and sleek with a brushed-metal finish.
- This full touch screen phone has some pretty impressive specs like the Galaxy S — 1GHz, 3G/HSDPA, WiFi 802.11n, GPS, Bluetooth 3.0, FM radio, 2GB & 8GB internal plus 32GB via microSD, 5MP AF camera with 720p video recording.
- The Bada OS, Samsung open platform looks nice and reminds me of TouchWiz UI but a much more refined one (update: the UI is actually TouchWiz UI 3.0). The 5 panels resembles that of the Android UI and LG’s S-Class UI.
- The Samsung Wave will be released soon and will have a price in the range of Php20,000 and above.
Samsung reps told me their efforts in the high-end and smartphone line will be two-thirds more on Android and the rest with the Bada OS. You will see more of the Bada OS in mid to low-end handsets.

yes Bada of Samsung wave is new but its very user friendly. samsung aps is growing rapidly & ’till now everything is free.The OS is superfast, wifi is great, evrything is great actually. This phone will never let you down, its a mini computer in ur pocket. i already forgot my laptop from the time i got this phone, 2-months back.One thing you love about this phone which you cannot find in other smarphones even the iphone is its beatiful screen & not to mention its speed.This phone really rocks.try it.
I got my samsung wave s8500 for about 2-months now & ’till now there were no issues about it. It’s one hell of a smarphone. i’ve been a nokia user for the last 5 years & nothing comparable to this great smarphone. This is really amazing. i love this phone very much. try it, you’ll sure gonna love it as well. its highly recommended.
haha! my o2xdaII can play dvd files, as in the dvd (VOB) files. hows that? it is just 450mhz. why pdf? pocketpc has pocket office. buy windows mobile fones, smoother like the iphone, it is more PC on your pocket.
btw, i have a samsung smartphone.
I love my samsung wave! brilliant super AMOLED display! I enjoyed streaming videos via wifi and watching it on my phone!

I have this samsung wave, and i really really love it in a major major way… i was so satisfied with the apps, performance and superb images and videos quality.
For me, this phone is great even though its a new OS called Bada because it gives a lot more choices to people. And by its features, its a great phone already! It has DivX HD. Does the other phones have that? I think his brother Galaxy S only have that.
Is there a symbian, maemo, iOS phone that has this kind of features? 1ghz cpu, 512mb RAM, DiVX HD? Yes iphone 4, but it cac’t do DixV HD or just even DivX. Yeah the apps are great but it cost 4 times here in the Philippines. Not worthy for me. :p
As a multimedia lover this phone is for me. I don’t care the f*ck of that (OS consciousness) of other people. But I’m with this phone, its a great deal.

Thanks for the superior article, so I have been a samsung person for roughly 5 years now, and I recently upgraded from a samsung omnia i910 to the Samsung Wave and up to now I’m loving it! (I do leave out a few features of my omnia even though) I am from Halifax Nova Scotia in Canada, I was originaly going to wait it out for the galaxy s to arrive at the bell network however determined to buy the wave instead and store myself $400.
magustuhan din anang apple un super amoled naang samung expect na natin sa susunod na iphone eh same super amoled or based din sa ganung tech un phone nila. oki un retina mataas resolution pero mas oki paring un super amoled nang samsung in terms sa color tone..
i bought a unit samsung wave that is now defective after 2 weeks from the date of purchased of not maximizing its used, the unit was not functioning anymore totally it hangs from the moment i turned on the unit. hoping to received any actions for this matter.

Bada will have a hard time competing with Android on smartphones, but I think it will be great on low end phones – imagine full HTML5 + widgets on your cheapo phone.

Every time samsung releases new phones i am not very interested to buy one. the reason is they have almost the same operating system of the old one. not like the iphone once a year lang sila naglalabas and a big differences to the old one. so i prefer to buy iphone. maski mahal
nice features but id rather go with android… bada is just another dark horse… with so many platforms out there already is there really a need for another one?
