Smart Netphone unveiled, priced at Php9,990

Smart has finally unveiled the pricing plans of their new Smart Netphone product, an Android Froyo handset running on their exclusive Smartnet network.

The handset retails for Php9,990 for a prepaid kit and can be had for free with Plan 800 Data Lite.

You can then subscribe to an internet or data plan from Php10 to Php40 per day or up to Php999 per month.

Smart Netphone (a.k.a ZTE Blade)
3.5″ LCD display @ 480×800 pixels
600 MHz ARM 11 processor
Adreno 200 GPU
Qualcomm MSM7227 chipset
HSDPA 7.2Mbps; HSUPA 5.76Mbps
WiFi 802.11 b/g/n, WiFi hotspot
Bluetooth 2.1 w/ A2DP
3MP autofocus camera
FM radio tuner
GPS w/ AGPS support
Li-Ion battery 1250mAh
Android 2.2 Froyo

We wrote about the ZTE Blade V880 earlier this week and speculated that this is the base handset being used by Smart for the Netphone.

The handset is also called the Orange San Francisco in Europe and retails for $225 in online stores (the barebones one, without SmartNet). Apparently, our guesstimate of Php5,000 for the handset was way off.

You can learn more about the Netphone here.

stay online 24/7 free. – how is it free when you have to at least subscribe at least 10 pesos to get no-browse-apps-only connection. its just stupid and bullshit.

Yawn. I’m already doing this. Last year I got a 799 broadband plan from Sun took the sim out of the modem and put it in a samsung galaxy 5. I downloaded skype chikka and e buddy for communications and dolphin browser for browsing. And it’s a peso cheaper

Guys this is Smart locked, it’s not just a Smart-branded phone but will be a platform for offering Smart services such as Smart Money, social stream, chat, and it’s got a global directory for connecting to friends and establishments. Check out the actual demonstration at Smart stores for a better appreciation of the platform.

Expensive if you’re prepaid. Cheap if you’re postpaid. Why do people still use prepaid when postpaid gets you more goodies for the buck?

  7. Avatar for Techloban Techloban says:

It’s a tad too expensive. There are better smartphones in the market that are cheaper. I guess they’re giving it away at Plan 800 as an alternative to the Samsung Corby II.

For sure this is SIM locked. I’d pass the buck. I’ll look somewhere else.

Grabe ang mahal. Di talaga magandang magpresyo itong si Smart

At that price.. i’ll still get LG/Samsung. But if it will be lowered to 5-6k.. pwede na!

Ang mahal na, naka-lock pa sa Smart, yung services is from Smart.. Sana naisip nila na even at hefty discount, kikita pa din sila kase Smart services ang embeded.

Waaah! Ang mahal naman for a Generic ZTE Phone…

Off topic: Alam nyo ba ung “gooapple 3g”? Alam nyo ba kung san makakabili nun? Sorry kung bawal pala magtanong about sa ganun dito. Noob ako dito sa yugatech eh..

Guesstimate is way off. This is better than O1 though in terms of screen estate.

I just haven’t figured out if I get a prepaid kit, and don’t want to subscribe to any of their bundles, what SmartNet apps are still accessible.

Too late. Been waiting for this for ages. Wanted it for its touchscreen display and resolution. But so far happy with my Optimus One.

I could not agree more. Should’ve been released earlier. Tsk. Ganda sana ng PPI.

Oo nga, this phone got out too late, at least for us. Got me a Galaxy Ace for p13,500 when I was really rooting for this one or Optimus One (not available in my province then). But then, although mahal ang Galaxy Ace, ok na rin, 800 mhz and mukhang iPhone. But this ZTE blade has the best resolution and reviews pa naman. I am now seeting my sights for a tablet, sana maging available ang Vizio tablet sa Pinas soon.
