Got a tip from the local PR of Sony-Ericsson Philippines that the Xperia Mini and Xperia Mini Pro will be coming out in stores this July (though no exact dates yet).
Here are the recommended retail price they gave me:
Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 Mini – Php16,990
Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 Mini Pro – Php17,990
Announced back in February, the Xperia X10 Mini is the smaller version of the X10 with almost the same specs. This is targeted to those who wants the design and features of the phone but cannot afford the Php32.5k SRP of the X10.
Sony Ericsson XPeria X10 Mini & Mini Pro
2.55″ touch screen @ 240×320 pixels
Qualcomm MSM7227 600MHz
128MB internal memory
up to 16GB via microSD card
3G/HSDPA
WiFi 802.11 b/g
Bluetooth 2.1
5MP autofocus camera w/ LED flash
GPS w/ aGPS support
Android OS 1.6 w/ TimeScape UI
I’m not sure if the OS will still be v1.6 and not the newer 2.1 although I have this feeling it will be since my X10 still does not have the upgrades available.

Just got confused. Are these prices for the Xperia X10 mini or for the Xperia mini. My understanding is they are 2 different units. based on pictures alone, you are referring to the Xperia X10 mini, not the Xperia mini. am i correct?
irish says:
available na ba to sa philippine market?
Giselle Corkery says:
Lovely blog post you have hereabouts. I hadn’t given due consideration aforementioned.
goodha67 says:
anyone knows by chance the discounted price of these at sm megatrade hall? many thanks.
Paul says:
better look the other way guys, because these two phones are stuck at Android 2.1 and SE does not have plans upgrading them to 2.2
They look good and currently cheap but will you still buy them if you knew that you can only have Android 2.1?
Erich says:
Anybody know where I could buy an original back cover for my SE X10 Mini Pro as well as screen protector and casing. I do prefer the branded ones… Thanks!
ross says:
i want a small basic phone and the mini pro fits the bill. its being sold on ebay for Php9,900. i should be a little suspicious but im almost tempted to buy. what do u think?
April says:

francis says:
eclair (2.1) for x10 mini and x10 mini pro is now available :D .. x10 mini price is 12k to 13k d2 sa cebu ..
abi says:

I like how this phone feels. Got this just a week ago. This is NOT for media-savvy users, and definitely not a show-off phone. My only complain here is the battery. On average use, it lasts for only 1.5 days. But i read from the other thread that it’s only temporary since the battery is still new. But still, I’m getting a spare battery for this one.
If other big touchscreen phones are sports cars, this one is like a black Honda Jazz or Suzuki Swift. \m/ It’s not the best out there, but it gets the job done with the right amount of style.

I just bought a mini pro a few days ago…so far, di pa naman disappointed. ;)
Jane Cruz says:
how much mo nabili? MINI PRO talaga?? hindi mini pro x10 ah?
ben david says:
iba ang dating ng mini, tpos 5MP p camera, then SONY pa, JAPAN tibay. number 1 ata sony ngaun at kung mapapansin nyo mga bro ndi cla gnun kbilis magbaba ng value.mini, simple but mighty, un lang…

leemar says:
kelan ba talaga ang release? im still thinking on what to get, the mini pro or samsung wave?
i like the mini pro because it has keyboard and android o.s., but the letdown is the screen size and resolution.
i like the wave because of the specs and the superamoled screen, the bada os not much.
what should i get???
j says:
saw the mini sa SE moa today, too small for me. with the pro, sabi ng staff, wala pa daw.
Jefferson Kho says:
I think the price is quite reasonable considering the specs.. I want one now!
Joe says:
@Jade Bryan
Kesa naman sa Nokia at Samsung na sirain..
SE = Quality
jam. says:
I want the Mini Pro!
dee says:
@mark, i strongly agree on the durability of sony ericsson phones. Mine is a p990 and its been running for 4 years. Though it works now on qwerty mode, no keypad flip like before; it still runs like mad!!! This came out before like 42k when it was released ages ago, way expensive than the glorius xperia x10.
To the rest, guys it would be practical if we allocate a budget on our dream phones. Funny, how others would keep up to a high end phones when they dont even maximize its full potential :) If this was priced between 11k-13k i believe this would regain their market share.
Again, like i always said on blogs. To each his own LOL
hw everyone
mark says:
yes SE products are expensive. but the quality I should say, do justice for it. my P1i is turning 4 years old now and still working great. It had been through rough times but remains to be one of my most dependable devices ever. Unlike nokia phones, which always receive doubt kung clone o hinde. hehe
Teknisyan says:
hmm.. why do phone maker add the slide up QWERTY when they add the PRO on their phones like with the samsung corby pro and the samsung wave2 and wave 2 pro?
though I’m sure there are features that are available in the pro that are not in the other one. :)

Jade Bryan says:
What a waste of money imho. Sony Ericsson has always expensive products.
lawrence says:
here’s a preview of the x8
http://www.gsmarena.com/sony_ericsson_xperia_x8-review-488.php
@abe
i wish u can make a full product review of x10 mini or the upcoming x8. ur blog is one of the best anyway :)
lawrence says:
@rcdiuguen
check the official blog site of SE. They’ve discussed there that both x10 and x10mini/pro will get android 2.1 by Q3. X10 will even get HD recording via the update. anyway I think it will be better to just wait for x8 with larger screen and resolution than the minis, but a major downgrade with the camera :P it is way cheaper though with estimated price of around 12k++..
rcdiugun says:
@abeolandres Your post doesn’t seem to mention the difference between the mini and the mini-pro. Is there any?
abeolandres says:
@rcdiugun qwerty keyboard lang, may link sa old entry ko from that post.
rcdiugun says:
@abeolandres I do hope they release the update soon. Gingerbread is slated to release near the end of the year already.
rcdiugun says:
@abeolandres Then just 1.6 pa rin? They still haven’t released the 2.1 (or 2.2) update?
abeolandres says:
@rcdiugun nope, bagal nga eh. the SE store that I got it promised 2.0 by May pero wala pa rin.
rcdiugun says:
@abeolandres Why still 2.0? Google already marked that obsolete. :(
abeolandres says:
@rcdiugun Until G shares the source code fo the new version, others cannot get it and tweak it for their handset. Late palagi.
abeolandres says:
@rcdiugun Google still somewhat has control/monopoly the OS.
rcdiugun says:
@abeolandres I mean, they don’t have to use 2.2. At the very least, they use 2.1 instead of 2.0. 2.1 has been out for a long time already.
rcdiugun says:
@abeolandres And 2.0 was damn buggy! It’s the reason why 2.1 was released immediately.
Deng says:
I just bought Samsung Corby Pro a few months ago and Sony will be releasing Xperia Mini/MiniPro?
Parang nanghihinayang ata ako.
simplynice93 says:
Android OS 1.6 is old. This phone should have been priced 13T or lower.
Miguel says:
On the other hand, the Samsung Spica 320×480 at that price or cheaper.
I haven’t used a QVA 320×240 Android phone so I’m not sure how that works out.
Miguel says:
Looks like SE is moving the Android platform down to the “regular” phone levels.
So “XPeria” is no longer a premium brand?
LunaTech says:
i thought it will be cheaper.. guess not
anoni says:
seriously??? THAT much of a difference in the price WITH the same specs??? i should wait for this instead of buying HTC Legend then.
PSEspiritu says:
@abeolandres Looks like their sticking to #Android 1.6, at least until the original X10 gets to either 2.1 or 2.2
