Acer Timeline 1810TZ Review

The smallest and lightest model in the Acer Timeline series is the 1810TZ and pretty much defines what the ULV segment should be — thin, light, long battery light and has enough processing power.

The good thing about the Acer Timeline 1810TZ is that, despite the low clock-speed at 1.3GHz, it’s still got dual core processors. That means you benefit from the ULV giving you longer battery life but can still crunch some pretty good numbers when you needed it, courtesy of the 2 cores.

Screenshots of the CPU-Z and GPU-Z are show below. The Intel GMA 4500M takes a minimum 64MB memory but pumps it up to 796MB when needed. The 2GB DDR2 RAM (the other Timelines have DDR3 RAM) is enough but can be upgraded to 4GB.

The Timeline 1801TZ can be readily compared to the netbook version, Acer Aspire One AO751, which we reviewed here earlier. Only difference in the form factor is that the 1810TZ has an embedded 6-cell battery while the AO751 has it protruding at the back end.

Windows Experience Index of Acer Timeline 1810TZ

The Windows Experience Index of the Timeline 1810TZ is impressive with a base score of 3.2. That’s pretty much evident when you put it side by side with the one from the AO751. Now that’s a huge difference between an Atom Z520 1.33GHz and an Intel Pentium Dual Core SU4100 at 1.3GHz.

The system plays YouTube HD smoothly and with the HDMI port in place, you can hook it up to a big monitor to output some HD movies. My HP Mini 311 with NVidia ION LE still struggles with YouTube HD because of the Atom processor. The 11.6″ display has a screen resolution of 1366×768 pixels is standard for its size.

The 250GB hard drive, a Draft-N WiFi, Bluetooth and Windows 7 completes the specs line-up to make this an ideal mobile notebook.

The battery lasts about 5 hours on a single full charge (based on internal battery indicator) while BatteryBar gives it a good 5.5 to 6 hours.

The Acer Timeline 1810TZ is not officially available in the Philippines yet and the review unit we had was bought from Hong Kong for $750PHP 44,014INR 63,562EUR 714CNY 5,459 (Php35,000USD 596INR 50,561EUR 568CNY 4,344). It could go as high as Php39,990USD 681INR 57,770EUR 649CNY 4,963 when it gets here.

  1. nice! sir yuga, can i have the site where you purchased your acer? i’m still looking for lesser price i can buy. thanks! great site

  2. kala ko laser pointer. hehe!

    hay, ganda ng timeline series.

  3. great laptop for college students, thought its kinda expensive

  4. hmm… Can’t wait to see AMD’s Neo processor paired with a discrete video card to be compared with this setup..

  5. Sir Yuga what is the dimension of Acer Timeline 1810TZ?

  6. Sarap bumili ng lappy. Can this handle WOW or Level-up RPG games?

  7. worth buying for….good job for acer

  8. I wonder what Intel has in store with the Nehalem versions of the CULV processors.

  9. Wow! Nice price! Yummy!

  10. The price is too high for me. For the same price, MSI EX460 sounds much better (Core 2 duo T6600 paired with ATI Radeon 4330) or even the ASUS K10I will out do the price. Hopefully, the systems with the same setup will have a lower price..

  11. so pretty. pretty expensive. ibenta ko na hp mini 1000 ko. hehe.

  12. i wonder why the big difference? this sells 26k sa canada (10% state tax exluced – around 28k), asking my friend to find one sa singapore this holiday, sana cheaper sa 35k :(

  13. ang mahal sana binabaan pa ang price ang astig pa naman ng hitsura haaay tyaga na lang muna sa AO751h hehe..

  14. which is slimmer and lighter? this one or asus eee pc t91?

  15. I won’t ever buy any Acer laptop again. My first laptop is Acer and it’s got bunch of hardware problems – power supply, power button and touch pad sensitivity, terrible battery life.

  16. yuga!! this is really sweet news! would you know when (or if) this will be available in the philippines?

i was thinking of getting the timeline 3810 but 13.3″ is a tad too wide for me….and then this 11.6″ baby came along! (the toshiba portege T110 is another option, but i am not a fan of glossy, fingerprint-smudged finishes.)

  17. on second thought, i think i like the 3810 better since i found out from another review that the 1810 has a glossy chassis, which i didn’t notice in the above pic. haha, i know the inside is what matters, but still..

  18. wow sir yuga nasa tv patrol!

  19. love it! sana mejo cheaper xa..

  20. saan po pede makabili nito? through credit card nga lang? please help me po…thanks all

  21. how much? can send me the details and specs

  22. Available na locally 1810z, with a lower prize.. sa sm north, 27.4 k lang

  23. there are complains though regarding the noise it creates. umiingay siya. hindi ako sure kung isolated case lang yun pero two videos na ng acer 1810TZ sa youtube ang may noise. mas in favor na tuloy ako sa Asus UL20A.

  24. Checking …

  25. i will never buy acer laptops, aside from the hardware troubles, the sound volume is lame. like you cannot watch a movie or listen to ur music from a distance 1/2 yard

  26. This really answered the problem, thanks!

  27. Its such as you read my thoughts! You seem to grasp so much about this, such as you wrote the e-book in it or something. I think that you simply can do with some p.c. to pressure the message house a little bit, but instead of that, this is magnificent blog. A fantastic read. I will definitely be back.
