Asus Eee Pad, Slate EP121 coming to CES 2011

My plan to travel to Las Vegas to attend CES 2011 did not materialize so here we are giving you updates on what’s happening there thru the usual channels (PR and private contacts). Asus already went ahead and gave us the details fo their Eee Pad and Eee Slate EP121 which they’ll showcase at the CES Exhibit Hall.

The Asus Eee Slate EP121 looks like the same tablet/slate Asus showed during Computex back in June 2010 but this time they have the complete details.

The Eee Slate EP121 has a 12.1″ multi-touch Gorilla glass display screen (1366×768 pixel resolution) with an Intel Core i5 processor running Windows 7. It comes with a 64GB SSD for storage, 4GB of RAM, WiFi and Bluetooth.

On the other hand, the Eee Pad Transformer and Eee Pad Slider comes with a 10.1″ IPS capacitive touchscreen powered by an NVidia Tegra 2 processor and Android 3.0 Honeycomb.

The EeePad Transformer comes with a docking station and includes a full qwerty keyboard that also serves as battery extension to give a total of 16 hours battery life.

The EeePad Slider comes with a built sliding keyboard for better mobility. No word on the pricing and local availability but I’m pretty sure these units will land in the Philippines before the second half of the year.

  1. Thanks to Apple iPad, ang dami nang lumalabas na potential worthy competitors

  2. @sir Abe, grabe nag tatravel ka pla kahit sa ibang bansa to update us grabe . .
By the way, this slate may be scratched by it’s pen? Because other tablets dont allow pointed objects to navigate the screen.

    • For your information you can only use stylus on resistive touch screens and not on capacitive touch screens. Resistive touch screens also are not capable of multi-tasking because it cannot detect the position of multiple fingers. For capacitive touch screens use only your fingers.

  3. DAMN IT ASUS! My laptop will be for sale again this december…

  4. Intel Core i5 in a tablet……saglit lang, punas lang ako ng laway….

  5. @Nemory: you can’t use pens on capacitive screens, it’ll never work no matter how much pressure you put in. there are special capacitive pens for that if you need to take down notes old school style.
On resistive screen, well it’s stated above that it’s Gorilla Glass. It’s scratch resistant (emphasize on resistant). Just get a screen protector from CDR-King if you’re afraid of scratches.

@ricardo: allow me to do the same *drool*

  6. but what does the pen in the 1st picture @Bryan.. . .hehe

  7. The “Transformer” and “Slider” pictures looks kinda.. weird? But the specs.. *drool*

  8. @Nemo0ry: That’s the capacitive/digitizer pen that comes with the unit, it’s located at one of the corner just like most of the old pocketpc that comes with a stylus.

  9. @Bryan, okay maybe it’s not really sharp pointed ‘the pen’ hehe.
Super bilib ako sa 2nd pad sa taas kasi pwd xa keyboard built in at maybe digital at multi user OS pa d pa ako nakakita or nkahawak ng ganun.

  10. @Yuga

Can you find out when will ASUS and other companies release their Zacate “notbooks” here. HP seems to be the first one to release them on the 9th
