Dell Inspiron Mini 9 confirmed!

Dell Senior Marketing Manager Karen Gonzales confirmed today the release of the Dell Inspiron Mini 9 in the Philippines. See specs and photos after the jump.

During the Philippine launch of Intel Atom this afternoon at the Manila Ocean Park, I approached an executive from Dell to confirm the release of the rumored Dell Inspiron Mini 9.

Specs include an Atom 1.6GHz, 1GB RAM and 16GB SSD. This lone model will run Windows XP Home with an 8.9-inch display screen (1024×600 pixel resolution). Ubuntu Linux-based Dell-customized interface will come later.

No suggested retail price has been given but they said it should fall somewhere between Php20,000 to Php25,000. (More photos as we update this story.)

The official launch in the Philippines will be on September 17, 2008 together with the Dell Studio series. It will be available in the market by October.

Update: Apparently, this was just announced in the US a couple hours ago. Dell PR has provided us with additional info and clearer pictures.

Models range from 4 to 16GB SSD, 512MB to 1GB, 1.3MP webcam, Wifi and Bluetooth.

I’ve been browsing around the entire morning to find a good post to tell me what I need to know, but I have determined like 34 other blogs that just gave me senseless information!

    The Dell Inspiron Mini 12 is a good size and features lots of storage, but is hampered by its sluggish performance and inability to stay on your lap.

    what?? found some eee pc’s at 14k at gilmore. the ubuntu version is priced at $349 & that’s a 5k addition to get it locally? man, i better wait for it to come out in gilmore or just look for a US contact.

    20-25K? that’s pricey! i just checked out the lowest price of aspire one and eee900 (both 8’9″ inch just like dell mini 9), they’re only 15K++ now. dell should do something to make it marketable or it will be a flop!

    Medyo may kamahalan pero LED Glossy screen ito. Ito lang ata ang netbook na glossy screen, pwede ka talagang manood nang movies dito, yun ngalang dapat madilim o dapat ang ilaw sa taas.

    @dell
    you guys suck. another piece of crapware and an “oh-so-ugly-cheap” design.

    i still prefer the exterior of Aspire One over Inspiron Mini, sa madaling salita… may class.

    the interior and form factor is less desirable than the other netbooks around. i still don’t get what the rectangular thing/space above the number keys are for. Did they hide the F-keys there?
