According to a reliable source close to Samsung Philippines, the company will be releasing a WiFi-only version of the Samsung Galaxy Tab in the Philippines this quarter.
That means a more affordable Galaxy Tab will be available in local stores before the end of March 2011.
The indicative price, according to our source, is within the vicinity of Php25,000. Not bad but still a bit more expensive by a couple of thousand pesos compared to the entry-level iPad WiFi.

samsung galaxy tab says:
I used to be suggested this web site via my cousin.
I’m now not sure whether this put up is written by way of him as no one else recognise such specific approximately my trouble. You’re incredible!
Thank you!
jun says:
sabi yung samsung galaxy tab wifi will sell at 399.. so more or less 18k… hmmmm is it because of ipad2? if it will sell at 20k here.. much better
John Ray Ebora says:
20k na po xa! nakita ko sa cmk :)
arj says:
okay lang ba ang arcos brands as alternatives? mas mura sila at android based ang os
Rem says:
Even if Apple will price the 1st Gen. iPad lower than 20K, I’d still pick the Galaxy Tab. Parang imposibleng nasa 25K pa din ang price kasi ilang beses na daw nagbaba ng price yung 3G+WiFi dahil sa China Tablets. Makakapag text at tawag ka na, 2 pa ang camera! Ang ayoko lang kasi yung smallish screen, and I find it sluggish sometimes. Minsan nag hhang, kelangan mag force stop ng apps like camera, tapos nagbblink yung screen.
Wreek888 says:
Another DOA from samsung mas mura pa ipad2 24k lang san ka pa?
milo says:
ipad 2 is out.. so i thought people will line up for it…samsung put so much premium pricing on their product.. but if you think tablet technology is becoming common. apple set the standard for pricing and quality..and others should follow
Philippine Android News says:
I am still waiting for honeycomb being ported to galaxy tab gen-1.
maf says:
@Jhay:
Please look up the actual definition of open-source. Because you’ll find that Windows is on the other end of the spectrum.
Open-source doesn’t automatically mean having the most number of software available.
dan_md says:
No thanks. Android Froyo or even gingerbread is not optimized for tablet use. It’s just an enlarged smartphone.
I would wait for honeycomb tablets or settle for the iPad.
csseyah says:
wow nice… wait and see… hindi muna ako bibili ng laptop :p
john says:
did someone really bought the 3g version of this? LOL!
will anyone buy this one?
AHAHA, funyn people
tipaqlong says:
i prefer galaxy tab with 3g..
raymond says:
Hindi po ito sulit. May makukuha na kasing Brand new Galaxy Tab phone version nang 26K. Isang libo na lang idagdag.
/m says:
Will it come with honeycomb?
raymund says:
I would try iPad first before trying that. I want to get the best for my money.
goring says:
difficult for me to choose..
IPAD2 or xoom
any suggestion out there?
someone says:
Android phones are much cheaper than iphone. Why is it the other way around for tablets (ipad cheaper than galaxy tab)?
Jhay says:
@ogago
No different? Your discernment reeks of stupidity.

too late and too expensive (for an outdated os and machine). I think ill wait for the honeycomb batch of tablets.
Ethan Tremblay says:
still waiting for ipad2
Jhay says:
@ac3buddy
Thank you Grammar Nazi.
ac3buddy says:
Hi Jay,
it’s teaming with software.â€
You mean to say teeming? not teaming?
Mark Rodriguez says:
I am so excited to get my own tablet. As the price will be much cheaper here in the Philippines.
Herce says:
“Puh-lease, Windows is as open-source as you can get — it’s teaming with software.”
You are an idiot. Clearly you have no idea what open source actually means. Worse, you don’t even have the ability to use wikipedia to look it up! You should buy an iPad, its made exactly for idiots like you.
adam says:
I’ll buy an Ipad than this one. For sure IPAD price will go down when Ipad 2 starts selling. So this Tab version won’t capture any market.
Calvin says:
iEDU March 2 na rin release ng iPad 2? or launching lang? remember january announcement ng first iPad pero March na sya na-releae sa US?
ellenjoycastel says:
In a few months, mas bababa pa ang price niyan, especially pag labas ng iPad 2.
iEDU says:
Pandroid Sucks! Just wait for the iPad2. It will be released on March 2(US)
Ram says:
Same price as a netbook with decent specs.
Jam. says:
nah, better wait for Honeycomb
kenok says:
I thought they did some price cuts on the original Galaxy Tab tablet?
Happy says:
I rather buy an iPad.
wix says:
If it would run on Honeycomb I’m getting one. If not, iPad Wi-Fi only is still the best choice.
Jhay says:
Spot on fellas, the iPad, though closed-source, has a rich developer base and really entices anyone with its UI.
Even geeks like iPad since it gets the job done right, unlike fragmented Android.
But still, I find Honeycomb a very feasible alternative to the Springboard. The Galaxy Tab running an old (and more importantly, unoptimized) version of Android is simply a no-no.
Jun says:
yeah.. and still ipad is still cheaper..
goring says:
too late for samsung…
lolipown says:
A bit late to the party for the Wifi-only version. Samsung would’ve capitalized on the market better if they released this alongside the 3G-capable version.
Jhay says:
This galaxy tab sucks. The UI is laggy (used it firsthand) and the price — don’t get me started on that “uncompetitive” price. I’d rather buy an ASUS notebook instead. Windows vs Android on Tablets? Puh-lease, Windows is as open-source as you can get — it’s teaming with software. Forget all that APP crap. Full-fledged software is better.
jun says:
sana mas mababa pa. any news about the specs..
Malcoxx says:
The pricing if more than 23k is not competitive anymore since the 3g version can be bought for 26k in some stores. Hope they change their official price.
April says:
i’d love to have one
